Music Monday: Conspiracy Songs

by Scott Lydon

Happy Music Monday! In today's weird, messed-up world, we're surrounded by conspiracy theories each and every day. So it should be no wonder that we've all heard songs about that very concept. Today Scott's spoken with some shadowy figures from the Illuminati and gotten permission to do a list of conspiracy songs. Check it out… before they make him take it down!

Soul Coughing - Unmarked Helicopters

A team of special helicopters with no markings that answer to no one? Pffft. Next you'll say that the Pentagon has a Black Ops budget nobody can account for! Face it, as conspiracies go, these spooky helicopters are pretty easy to accept. All it takes is a can of paint and a General saying "need-to-know" a few times!

The truth is after the jump. See you there, if you think you can handle it.

Kate Bush - Cloudbusting

"Conspiracy song?" you say in disbelief. But think about it this way: if someone came to you and said "Obama used the Orgone-powered weather machine to ruin the Russian Olympics!" would you nod your head in agreement? Weather control is still on the song conspiracy list, whether or not you believe in it.

Ministry - N.W.O.

It's not just a team of wrestlers. The "New World Order" is that scary thing out there, in which… well, no one's ever totally clear on what it does. Possibly it involves the United Nations somehow. That's what makes it such a good conspiracy! Oh, hey, and speaking of the United Nations...

Bobby Conn - United Nations

A one-world government. Is it horrifying? Lovely? Would they have to take our guns and laws, or would we take theirs? The answer depends on who is pulling the U.N.'s strings, doesn't it? Maybe they're on the side of the angels… or maybe the side of those who used to be...

Was (Not Was) - 11 MPH

So much changed that day in Dallas. Politics, government, culture… and even who we trusted. Without the botched investigation and suspicious sub-assassinations, would conspiracy theories be so popular today? Or maybe… that's what we're supposed to think...

Keep your head down and post some of your favorite conspiracy-themed songs. And let us also just remind you: some images come from the corresponding Wikipedia page and are here under fair use. See you next week.
