Music Monday: Famous Laughs

by Scott Lydon

Happy Music Monday! Today Scott's gonna take a look at the famous laughs of music. Not sure what that means? Well, then, stick around and it will all be made clear soon enough.

Sufaris - Wipeout

Possibly there were famous laughs before this but I certainly can't think of any. Wipeout is famous for many reasons but one of them is the exciting Joker laugh at the beginning. Before the guitar, before the drums, before the song, there's nothing but a laugh.

Now you get it, right? Come learn about all the laughing you didn't know you knew.

Yazoo - Situation

Ever been to a dance club? If so, you almost certainly heard this laugh. Now that you've heard it, keep your ears open and you might be surprised. Once you know it exists, it pops up everywhere.

Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - The Message

This laugh is both famous and easy to forget! Listen for the "It's like a jungle sometimes" chorus to begin and be ready. Another well-referenced moment in hip hop.

Michael Jackson - Thriller

Mr. Vincent Price takes this one to the next level. What more is there to day? Michael knew when to take center stage but he also clearly knew when to delegate.

Ozzy Osborne - Crazy Train

Less famous than the guitar part, the Crazy Train laugh is still a nice little moment starting off a rock classic. Plus it's fun to replicate with friends. Try it, you'll enjoy it!

Can you think of a famous laugh not covered above? Post it in the comments! Also let us just remind you: some images come from the corresponding Wikipedia page and are here under fair use. See you next week.
