Music Monday: Let's All Hear Some Lindsay Buckingham

by Scott Lydon

Happy Music Monday! You know who rocks? Lindsay Buckingham rocks. Today Scott's gathered five Lindsay-penned songs that really showcase how great a songwriter he is. Join in! Join in!

Lindsay Buckingham - Trouble

Listen to that radio-friendly cascade of warmth and light! MMMMM! It just demands you put on some shades and sit on the beach, don't it? That Southern California feel is what Lindsay Buckingham brings to the table. The expensive, powder-covered table. At least back when this song was popular.

Tune your twelve string, there's more to come, after the jump!

Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way

So if anybody doesn't know that Lindsay Buckingham was like a quarter of the reason Fleetwood Mac turned into a drama-filled hit machine, raise your hand. No hands? Good! Maybe they were horrible people you wouldn't want to stay in your spare room, but DAMN they could write some music. This ode to Stevie Nicks made more in a year than most small countries did.

Lindsay Buckingham - Wrong

And, if we're being honest, the drama didn't stop when they finished the album! Here's a song from the nineties where Lindsay Buckingham comments on Mick Fleetwood's autobiography. Yeah. Being a Fleetwood Mac fan requires supplemental reading.

Lindsay Buckingham - Slow Dancing

That having been said, there's nobody in all of rock who sounds quite like Mr. Buckingham. Even after a few decades of evolution as both a solo artist and a band member, he's still got that sound that you can identify quickly from across a crowded coffee shop.

Fleetwood Mac - Peacekeeper

How to best sum up Lindsay Buckingham? Like this: when Lindsay Buckingham brought his solo album to his label, they told him it was too good, and asked him to turn them into Fleetwood Mac songs because they'd sell better. And Lindsay Buckingham did! Part guitarist, part businessman, pure talent. And great for early summer listening.
