nVidia GeForce 7900GS 256MB PCI-E x16 Video Card

Time for a commando raid into unknown territory! Today we present the semi-official early release of the nVidia GeForce 7900GS 256MB PCI-E x16 Video Card. This isn’t the full retail package that will hit stores sometime in the near future, nor is it just one piece of an entire PC system; it’s a raw hunk of standalone OEM hardware in a plain white wrapper, and you should pay close attention to the accessory and driver requirements below.

While it may seem like fun to get in on the premiere offering of this nVidia GeForce 7900GS 256MB PCI-E x16 Video Card, be warned: it’s not for the timorous, the irresolute, or the easily-daunted. We’re talking about the barbaric, crazed, possibly rabid 7900 series GPU, nVidia’s top graphics processor. See those sharp hi-def images at screen resolutions up to 2560×1600? You’re in the land of 256MB GDDR3 memory now. If it’s not the best card on (or off) the market right now, one thing’s for sure: nowhere else can you get such a big charge from a video card for such a little charge on your credit card.

And yes, we’re selling nVidia’s own product for a lower price than they’ll charge when they bring it to market. That faint popping sound you hear is your mind being blown.

As if all that isn’t savage and psychotic enough, check this out, if you dare: the nVidia 7900GS is fully SLI-ready, so you can string two of these beasts together for faster performance than almost any other card on the market (OK, OK, except for those ritzy $500 ones). Two pretty speedy cards combine into one blindingly-fast supercharged nitro-burning jet-fueled video rocket, hell-bent for smooth, crisp graphics performance.

With two 7900GS monsters plugged into your SLI motherboard, you’re in for the kind of visual spectacle unseen since the very hand of the Creator forged the universe from the infinite darkness. And that’s putting it mildly. But like we said, all this power comes at a price. You must be willing and able to install it without a manual. You must provide your own cables. You must download the latest Nvidia beta driver (required for 7900GS support), or this non-beta OEM driver.

But the real question is, are you ready for it? While everybody else plays it safe, huddling in the secure embrace of the familiar, you’ve gotta leap into the breach shielded by little more than your wits, your curiosity, and your unquenchable desire for the absolute latest shiznit. (Oh, and maybe a hoodie or something – the breach gets a little chilly at night.) You can’t rely on reviews, advice, or the talking points regurgitated by the blueshirts at your local big box retailer. It’s just you, a machine, and a decision to make. Scared yet?
