Once again, we've been scouring media high and low to see what people are saying about us...that's not too pathetic, is it? Is that pathetic?
- Der Spiegel is kinda like the Time or Newsweek of Germany, so believe it when they say "Woot.com steht aktuell auf der Liste des Magazins Inc. auf Platz eins der am schnellsten wachsenden Handelsunternehmen." (According to the Babelfish translation, that means "Woot.com stands up-to-date on the list of the magazine Inc. at place one at the fastest increasing trading venture.")
- For some reason, our almost-hometown Fort Worth Star-Telegram talked to a bunch of other retailers for a story on "surprise shopping". Eventually, they did acknowledge that we're the original deal-a-day site, but somehow they manage to avoid using the word "crap".
- Speaking of Woot knockoffs, Wootdall is the most original: it's a fundraising site for New Mexico congressional candidate Tom Udall. The campaign's Internet director Steve Olson says campaign staffers are "big fans of Woot.com (and buy some of our gear for the campaign there) so we thought a little homage would be appropriate."
- A Brandeis student says our shirts "straddle the line between indie and geek chic", so we'll forgive the fact that they somehow totally misunderstood what a Woot-Off is. Some things, you don't learn in school - even fancy universities like Brandeis.
- This DHTML blogger likes our site even though "it doesn’t validate (95 errors, ouch!)".
- Here's a blogger who celebrated her new Dyson vacuum with a new haircut. You ask us, it's an improvement on both counts.
- Twitter users say our paper robots are improving their desks and getting a Woot shirt is like a foulmouthed early Christmas. But I'll admit that I don't know why this gal wishes our Segway zombies were wearing Bluetooth earpieces.
- This guy likes his Zune from Woot. This gal likes her his iPod from Woot. It takes all kinds to make Woot go round.
- Our cheapo memory cards made this video possible. Hey, look at us, we're "patrons of the arts"!
If you see us show up in a web site, newspaper, blog, or tweet, pump up our ego by letting us know here...
