I've still got mine in use (Polk10's) after about 25 years.

Polk audio is top notch for highs and midrange. I know this for a fact.
I will recommend bypassing the subs and adding your own for the lower frequencies.

What can I plug these into?

Fry's often has the Polk R300 speakers for $100 a pair. How do these compare?

What's the difference between pewter and titanium color? One is a lighter silver than the other? Be nice if one of the photos had the two color choices.

Polk speakers are the shiznit, but I just don't need 'em. I don't even use a regular stereo system: all my music is on my computer!

Polk also has been know to work quite well while lowering the Impedance from 8 ohms to 4 .. So a purchase of 2 x 2 would work quite well. Again not for bass. Not in home or car audio.

Nice. I just moved and we left our other system behind. Now get a sign off from the wife...

Polk audio makes the best speakers besides Klipsh for home audio in my opinion. Seems that you can get these for the same price other places though. Was thinking about getting some just like these. Anyone know how good these are from personal experience?

I have the larger POLK towers in cherry - these are good speakers - just don't need/want them in silver although they WOULD look nice with my 70 inch SONY LCD TV..............hmmmmmmmmm

Polk used to be fairly high end, going back 20+ years ago. Don't know how good they are nowadays. Pass.

No audiophile by a longshot. Not at that point in life where I want (nor could afford) even a basic home theatre beyond the 22" CRT TV and hand-me-down VCR that still uses those magnetic tapes, but I'm sure some folks here would jump on it. Probably not enough to sell out I reckon, which means this'll be just the item to bring a Woot-off to a crawl

I did notice the cyber fart. I thought the item was going to be pulled down. Even @ 300 This is a woot! & again I recommend purchasing a powered subwoofer.

I believe Pewter is a darker more metal looking color than silver which is lighter. However, I am going purely by my experience with beer mugs of the two said colors.

On a side note - I'll hold off on this one. If I wanted speakers like this, I'd shop Ebay. These are new... but you can pay half the price for the same set of used ones... and probably find a better deal elsewhere. Thanks anyways woot

You can have them custom @4 ohms from crutchfield though. In my experience costs around 120 bucks per speaker extra.

Wood causes much more of an echo vibration in my opinion. Polk has always been known for there high to midrange.
