I have no clue.

Just if one of you guys does it, put it in the post so the rest of us can cut and paste it.

Here's one version! Probably more to come..

Having the contest appear at the time when it was supposed to goes a long way toward gathering interest from contestants. Having a head cheerleader who's waving a magic wand don't hurt none either ...

Yes, there's a fair amount of contribution and banter being made by established citizens, but there are a few freshmen in the mix as well. That tells me these folks feel like the contest, the participants, and the theme is approachable.

Also, yay for a theme we can bend as needed to make a chop.

I did my part...I think 7 entries are a new record for me. (Granted a couple of them are recycled, but they still contribute something, right?)

Long live the contest!

I'm not much of a chopper but I love seeing the results from this contest so much that I really don't want it to die. Besides, mediocre entries make the good ones look even better.

Great job, gang -- excellent turnout and a lot of strong entries and support!

Now, ironic as it may be that your fearless fundraiser host hasn't submitted his entry for the contest.. take solace in the fact that's it's been bouncing around in his brain all weekend trying to get out, but with little chance to actually find a computer

If anyone was interested, it was going to be something concerning a store shelf full of Woot! products, with price tags marked "WAS: ***insert woot price, crossed out***, NOW JUST: ***insert retail price here in bold***".. kind of a play on how Woot knocks prices off so well.

Anyway, thanks again to each and every one of you sportin' the Chop Contest in your sig.. and Jason, Dave, and all the other beloved children's characters -- thanks for stepping up to the plate and delivering

Same here on all counts. I'm not sure mine would even qualify as "mediocre" though. My abilities lean more towards cat captions... heh.

I even buy the Cr@p that ISN'T random.

Then you might want to check out this thread in Everything But Woot. Don't even have to chop if you don't want to.

Really, we're now five entire contests behind on the judging. 200, 201, 202, 203, and 204 have passed with no semblance of closure.

204 is certainly understandable -- but what's taking so long on the others? It's incredibly frustrating to have to wait this long for results, especially since there's no timetable whatsoever for a posting. It just seems to show up whenever.

What's up, Toon, Gatz and others?

Joe's right that we haven't had time to really discuss all this in detail, but be assured that we're aware of your complaints and mostly accept them. Dave and I will talk this over when we get back to St. Louis and see what we can do to restore the contest's good name. In the meantime, I'll at least make sure that the contests are announced Friday at midnight, and the results posted as soon as possible the following week. I hope you won't wind up needing those pitchforks and torches...

Thanks -
Jason

P.S. Just FYI, the Derby is only one cause of the recent inconsistency - not to make excuses, but it's also due in part to the extra work we're doing on the blog, me being out for almost three weeks with the new baby, the additional time needed to allow for shan and Joe's excellent judging, and the maddening inconvenience of Christmas and New Year's Day falling on Tuesdays. This doesn't excuse anything, but I just want you to know that it isn't that we don't care.

Deja Woot?
