where's the mac love....my instajacks and sansas don't work with it...now this

I'm tempted to buy this just for the OTA antenna, seeing as my CBS & NBC affiliates are owned by the same giant Dark Helmet distributor who decided to pull the HD signals from my cable company.

I got one of these last time, the HD quality is AMAZING, I'm going to get another one for my Dad. $39.99 is a sweet deal, looked brand new !!

I have one of these (bought from Woot at this same price) and it works pretty well for me. It does get a bit warm but delivers a good picture. I am about 10 miles from the downtown Chicago transmitters.

Does anyone know if you can just hook up a cable TV coaxial or does it have to use an over-the-air antenna?

I'm actually considering this one for the hubby. He's been interested in one of these for a while. My question is, does it work as well as they claim?

Does this do ClearQAM? I remember the previous time this appeared on woot, there was a discussion over the different versions of the HD Pro stick and that only the newer versions support ClearQAM.

does it include the cable to use component video in? Like to hook up a xbox through it?

I have a mac, but it dual boots with windows. I'm tempted to buy it......

Yes you can hook it up to your coax cable and get the analog channels

You can hook it up to cable as well as over the air...

The hardware works on a Mac, I tried it. Just need to download Elgato software

Either one. It comes with an antenna that connects via a coax connector. BTW its software moves really slowww....

They're refurbished already? I remember the last one I bought, didn't like it and sold it a week later.

At least its only $5 shipping... *giggles*... no, I have a friend who has one, its not bad but its hard to get all the channels unless you flip it around sometimes. But overall, it works.

Yes, this picks up Over the air HD which is Digital (ATSC). Only the analog stations are going away.

The picture is really good, I'm in the san francisco area and pick up 38 stations with the antenna - i guess if you live in a major city, you'll get similar results

So it picks up HD channels even though you do not have it? Is it like free HD channels? How many channels will this pick up?

Nope. It's already HD. I bought two here a few months ago at almost twice the price, but they weren't respiffied.

mine worked with both. I used it for a tv in the garage with no cable hook up, works great. i tried it on my pc inside, connected cable outlet plug to it, worked great as well.

Is there a map or something to see if this will work where I live? I'm not sure how these things work, seems odd to get (free?) HDTV over the air.

go to www.antennaweb.org - you'll be able to see how many stations you'll get in your area

does this simply hook up to the antenna and then to your comp via the usb?

I'm using one of these right now. It's decent. The picture tends to be a bit noisy for analog cable, but digital signals look great.

Windows Media Center will only detect the digital tuner. I don't know if anything other than the Pinnacle software can be used to get analog television. I have not even bothered to try to make this work in Linux.

Note that the included antenna has a magnetic base. However, with some care, the magnet can be unbolted from the rest of the base and replaced with a larger, non-magnetic foot. I made myself one out of a dead CD, which can be carried safely in my backpack.

The remote is ok, but it doesn't work well if the receiver on the dongle is facing away from the remote.

nice to see that it works with MCE
i have a different tuner that looks similar and is compatible with MCE and its nice that MCE can download my cable listings so i can program it to record just like a DVR machine. also like the fact that it supports ATSC but with cable service it doesnt really make a difference

Only the ATSC tuner will work after Feb 19, 2009.

IT WILL NOT DECODE CABLE TV DIGITAL CHANNELS. If you need that feature, you need a third tuner called a QAM tuner.
