I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

What's the chest strap for?

djplumking

I got this last time woot had it.

It works, that's about all I can say. It reads on the cardio machines at my gym (Precor) but I use the calories burned feature inside the watch itself anyway so it's no big deal.

I heart my HRM.

two years of wooting, still no boliander of carrots

It works. I bought 2 earlier in the year. There are still sitting in the boxes. I suppose I should monitor my heart rate more.

It holds the thing over your heart. The think black thing reads the electrical pulses from your heart and transmits it to the watch....

The chest strap is for a continuous heart rate signal...it works great!

Tizight

I might buy one. How does it feel?

It needs to make electrical contact with your skin, and a t-shirt will prevent that. Also, wearing it over a shirt will make you look like a serious dork.

I actually just used this monitor this afternoon on my run in the park. Chest strap stays secure, measures very accurately, can tell time, alarm, beeps when in zone, etc.

For $20 it's a steal. This compares with $300 monitors, and I use this every day. GREAT PRODUCT!

scurrier

Would be good if it helped keep you in your target heart rate, that's the spot your supposed to exercise at.

It beeps if you go outside the range that you pre-set

danae7480

Needs to go under you man breasts. Requires skin contact. Not, bad, watch is to big for a girl wrist

BagOfCarp

I got one of these for my dog. When I look at my watch I can see how hyper my dog is.

ZeroDivine

this was my first woot and apparently Im the first sucker. cool.

seidenstud

I got one here last year. Damn thing never worked for me at all. Feels like a piece of carp too.

I bought this heart rate monitor when it was available in May. I've used it in every workout since it arrived, and I wouldn't workout again without it!

If you're wondering, a heart rate monitor like this can tell you how hard you're working out and will lead to more efficient workouts.

The chest transmitter, however, is NOT water resistant. Can't use it for swimming. But the cardio machines at my gym pick up it's signal, so I don't have to hold onto those handles, or look at the watch to check my heart rate (though you will need the watch to activate the chest strap).

The chest strap needs getting used to. The day it arrived, I wore it for 24 hours (minus shower time) and even slept with it on. SO, I can vouch for it's comfort. My chest is about 38" so I had to adjust the strap almost to the point where I couldn't tighten it anymore. So there's plenty of give for some of you not so slim wooters.

The contact points on the transmitter belt need to be moistened prior to each use. Some people use saliva and lick them. I'd rather not lick something that's been profusely sweated on, so prior to working out, i'll put a little bit of lotion on it (I use Cetaphil).

If you're comparing a heart rate monitor with a chest strap as oppose to one minus a chest strap, pick this one. You won't get as accurate and consistent of a reading from those other ones.

Guys, this is THE reason I joined w00t. I missed the January one, and checked the site every morning religiously until it was on sale again. I have no cons to mention, and i HIGHLY recommend this product. Don't miss out on this!

This unit has a lot of great features and sends heart rate signal to the treadmill I use at my health club...

cvdwl

Bought one on a recent woot. Works well enough, though it dd tell me I had a pulse of 238 on a Mtn bike ride... I'd recommend it.

Larskydoodle

I bought this last Woot, even though I already had a heart rate monitor. Reason: this model has a stopwatch in addition to tracking how long you keep your heart rate in your target zone (using the workout timer). I was excited to be able to not only track my cardio workout, but also monitor my improvement in speed for competitive purposes. I even asked this in the forum, and had it confirmed...."Yes, it has a stopwatch."

Imagine my disappointment when I discovered—only after buying it, mind you—that it can't do the stopwatch and the workout timer AT THE SAME TIME!

I sure do wish they'd mentioned this little design flaw before I'd bought it, as it was the ONLY REASON for my purchase.

Aside from that, it's an okay product. It loses my heart rate occasionally on my run, which my previous HRM (an Acumen) never does. But it does okay.

I think that HRMs are a great tool to get people working out. It certainly worked for me. But the whole "stopwatch or workout monitor—can't use both!" thing leaves me feeling ripped off by this product.

Is it accurate enough while resting though or does it really only work when you're really moving along already?

So this pretty much is for MEN? Any women try wearing it below their boobages (if there are any women here that visit this site...)? I need to get something like this for my wife.

RogerCushing

I needed a new watch, cuz the battery died in my last crappy watch, so I got this for only a little more than the cost of a battery. And, hey! Free chest strap!!
