Neat. The Uniden TRU phones get pretty good reviews overall on Buzzillions.

I do a daily woot blog where I talk about the woot, link to CSEs, find reviews, etc. A few people have told me it's useful. Google "useful linkage" and there it is.

Sweet! Now I can have a "hold your breath under water" contest with my nephew in Florida over the phone!

This is an excellent product. I bought the 3 handset version a couple of years ago on Woot, and everything still works great.

Except that I don't recall my phone set being described as 'waterproof.' I'm also not sure why anyone would want a waterproof cordless telephone.

who uses landline phones these days? the only people who call my landline are telemarketers

ummm... is it just me or does that handset say waterproof? I mean, whom needs to talk in the shower or underwater in a pool. And besides.. what I REALLY want to know is it waterPROOF or just water-resistant... someone with experience cross this t and dot this i. I'd love a phone even my fish can use to call me in case of an emergency!

I was actually just hoping the other day Woot would come up with a cordless phone system, because yes I still use them, but 4 handsets is overkill.

I do love the writeup, though.

The breadsticks need marinara!, I still use "Landlines" and get plenty of calls there.

Anyone know how far the phones can go from the base without losing the call/reception?

Also, here's a refinement of the above Froogling, narrowing it down to 4-handsets (most of the results show two-handset sets.) If you NEED 4, it's 50% off.

I have a 5.8ghz system and I can go about 200 feet away from my house and still get signal. will definately cover your house and probably most decent sized backyards.

Can you add another uniden handset or are you limited to only the ones that come in the set?

Excellent write-up!

Can't believe no one else noticed the wonderful reference to the shill from the salt pool converter sale.

Did I mention I was the one who noticed he bought it the first time 8 months or so ago? :-D

Waterproof is useful if you have a pool, usually it floats too, so if you're relaxing in the pool and the phone rings you don't need to get out.

Booyah!

I use a landline. No cells for me as I prefer to avoid cancer of the brain and/or ears. Had it twice, don't want it again. As soon as my husband and I retired, we became "cell phone free". Yea!!! No more rude conversations in stores, eating establishments, or offices from me. Now if only others would do the same!!

My Unidens work inside the house all the way to the sidewalk, through a concrete and stucco building.

Great! I can put a phone out next to my salt water pool!

Can all 4 work submerged in water, or just the funky black one?

Goes perfect with your Rainforest 79 Steam Shower Unit..

http://www.mybath.biz/servlet/the-266/Rainforest-79-Steam-Shower/Detail

Well, it's perfect for those of us who love showering while still being able to watch TV and talk on the phone. The only thing they need to make now is that waterproof toaster I've been asking for all these years...

Finally. A phone I can take into the bathtub. That plastic bag I put around the iPhone just isn't cutting it.

In for one.

Waterproof phones? Now I don't have to worry about it when Junior drops the phone in the potty.

Because I find my comfort in knowing exactly which of my phones is the one I can drop into the pool without worrying if I grabbed the right one or not.

mbetzold

If it's waterproof, then I figure it's dustproof, dirtproof, sawdustproof... great for keeping in the garage or shop, taking out to the garden, etc. If it get's dirty, I can just hose it off!

Uniden makes some of the best cordless phones in my opinion. I have an older one that was purchased close to 10 years ago. It will not die. Yes all the marking on the buttons have worn off but no issues. Only thing I've had to do was replace the worn out battery.
