You’ve seen all the halfway-decent New Releases. The old standbysare leaving you cold – you just can’t get excited about another viewingof Blazing Saddles or The Breakfast Club or There’s Something AboutMary. Some other time, maybe, but not tonight.

That’s when you uncover them, the DVDdregs of any respectable video store: recent feature films based on oldTV shows. If you’re lucky, you won’t remember them ever showing intheaters. “Hey, have you ever seen this F-Troop movie?” you innocentlyask your life partner or drinking buddy. “Huh, Jack Black plays Agarn.I dunno, it might be good.” Or “You know, I’ve always wondered howdifferently Mr. Ed’s life would turn out if he were voiced by MatthewPerry and owned by Nia Vardalos. Could be fun to find out.” Famous lastwords of the video-scarred. Abandon hope, all ye who enter The Ropers:The Motion Picture.

In honor of today’s DVD-VCR mashup, we want you to create your own misbegotten. miscegenated media mutant, like so:

Show us a DVD cover for the worst possible (imaginary) feature-film remake of an (actual) old TV show.

You’llget extra points for creative casting. You’ll lose points for anyBrokeback Mountain or Michael Jackson references. And please, for the love of Jerry Mathers, take aminute to find out the rough proportions of a real-life DVD case. If you can’t be bothered to do that, chances are we won’t be bothered to look very hard at your entry.

Post the pictures here in the discussion thread by 11:59 PM CST onSunday, March 5, 2006. Prizes are $20/$50/$100 for 3rd/2nd/1st. Maybe they were in too much of a hurry to throw a contest together that they didn't have time to check grammar and such.

Do you believe that is their best? Monkey prize at best!

someguy184

Hmm...Diff'rent Strokes? But I guess any change in cast only make it better?

dude, you seriously need a life.. you have been a memeber since September of 2005 and you have 13,000 posts... holy crap batman....

Nice job. 86 posts per day.
3.5 post to woot per hour.

no really.. either you work for woot, or you live with your mom in the basement.

supermandancer

They put up a great-sounding, creative contest that's going to be a ton of fun and your first reaction is to bitch about their proofreading skills? What are you still bored after staying up till midnight just to post on the main-page forum how sucky you assess the day's woot offering to be? Criminey. I don't get people sometimes...

Back to reality and things that are worth sharing...I have a TON of ideas for this. I've never chopped before so I guess I have a couple of fevered days of self-teaching ahead of me! Wish me luck! Worst case senario I'll just come back in a few days and post the ideas so someone with some experience can use them if they so choose.

Happy Wooting!

So it's pretty much posting something to the effect of that new Bewitched movie with Will Ferril and Nichole Kidman...something like that?

Thank you for submitting an entry rather than belittling others. This could be a good contest, if I had any PS skills I re-work 'Small Wonder' or something.

The Fact is Hollywood already did this with two amazing flops:

Garfield and Bewitched

I could post the actual posters... however, no one bothered to retain them because they were burned with all other proof the movies ever existed. That said, I think Pinky and the Brain or Dick Van Dyke deserve attention.

My God zjr, your choices for the A-Team casting were excellent.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I think I'd watch at least the first episode.

As far as I could tell, there have only been made-for-TV followups, but nothing with a theatrical release.

And if you're wondering, I chose to keep the original cast members because it would be funnier to see them in a action-packed serious drama than contemporary actors.

oops.
