Look at that action shot of a Dyson taking a tight corner! It's like Nascar for vacuums.

The average cost of the items available today on the 6 woots (woot, home, kids, shirt, sellout, and wine) not counting shipping is $111.33 ...

Why does woot think I'm made out of money?

According to Consumer Reports, the ball is mostly a gimmick. They found that many cheaper vacuums using conventional casters and wheels were just as maneuverable, and often better performers.

Here we have a vacuum cleaner that does not REQUIRE a filter but, nevertheless, HAS one. At least the filter is WASHABLE. WOOT!

According to Dyson, the ball serves two purposes. It supposedly gives more freedom of movement but Consumer Reports has said that while it works, it's no better than some of their top rated non-ball vacuums. Dyson also claims that because the ball also houses the vacuum's components, there is a lower center of gravity which makes it more stable.

There are many rumors around the Internet that some carpet manufacturers void the warranty if you use a Dyson. Apparently, the beater bar is deemed too rough on the fibers. Despite the rumors, and the many testimonials from self-described carpet technicians, only one manufacturer specifically names Dyson as a violation to their warranty.

The design is valid. Shark copied it with good success in some of their vacs and the suction is great (truly better than conventional vacs) and long lasting as well as a reasonable price.

Dyson is just a premium much like Apple. You can get a machine that does much of the same but it's the style and name that jacks up the price. As well as the elitist attitude for owning one.

I never owned a Dyson for what it's worth. I don't vacuum my floors like a race track or downtown street system. So I don't need a ball that handles corners well. I actually found it cumbersome in the store. I have the shark which uses a similar design for suction and it works really well though supposedly not QUITE as well as these, but I can live without it.

Dyson vacuums can only make left hand turns?
That means in order to go right first I have to make three lefts? Of course if Dyson were the official NASCAR vacuum Danica could be the spokesperson...

According to me, it is Rube Goldberg engineering. Dysons look and feel like junk, and must be junk since there is a never-ending stream of refurbished units available every month.

Marketing. Nothing more, nothing less.

Super happy with my $55 Eureka I got from home.woot last month. I'll leave the Dysons for people with Apple stickers on the back of their VWs.

Well, not exactly, although marketing is no doubt part of it. Nothing wrong with your Eureka, but having had a Dyson for several trouble-free years, I have orders from wife to never, ever purchase another brand. And, of the Dysons, nothing will do but an upgrade from our current unit. Which means I'm still waiting for a bargain on the bigger "Animal." This model will outperform just about any vacuum out there. Except than damned "Animal."

Come on woot ... You've got a vacuum, and a choice of a huge blue ball.Your penchant for juvenile humor is now the stuff of folklore. What gives? The description had the potential for high school locker room shenanigans. Something strange is afoot at the circle k.

I will just assume that this was composed by the b.o.t. writers and the strike is still in full effect.

Just picked this up a couple of weeks ago from a woot! VIP offering ... same deal as today.

It's a good price, and really like the vac. Wife is still not completely sold on it (but she's never found a vac that she liked ... we're on #8).

I like the feel of the Dyson ... it's different and takes some getting used to, but it feels easier to manuever to me.

We picked up the red one ... thanks woot!

I have both asthma and quite a few environmental allergies that can trigger asthma or upper respiratory symptoms, and I've found that I have fewer asthma symptoms, less postnasal drip, and fewer asthma/allergy-related illnesses since I purchased a Dyson (DC-35) last fall. Correlation is not causation, of course, but if I'm going to be at home, I no longer need to use allergy medication on a daily basis. With Allegra no longer covered by insurance, what I save on allergy medication (and tissues...) may have paid for the DC-35 by now.

Does anyone need a Dyson? Probably not - but as someone who grew up loathing "it" brands and expensive items based on parent-taught principles, I'm surprised to find myself an evangelical for a very expensive, very "brand-focused" brand. For someone with asthma, allergies, dogs, and very little time or desire to clean, the DC-35 has improved my quality-of-life.

seems to have a very small dirt bucket.

How tall is the ball? Need to know if it could go under my bed.

Maybe when they come out with a ball using digital motor, the ball could be the size of a orange.

Wow, two Dyson vacuums on Woot at the same time.

Is two a plethora? Or would we need an bladeless fan for that?

I'm betting the DC 25 is the winner for sales and units sold.

Just like BOSE, it's gimmicks and marketing. Independent researches have shown that it is the case for Dyson.

Because of my work in a cleanroom, I have access to a particle counter. And out of curiosity I tested the dust count at the exhaust end of a friend's new Dyson DC24.

It wasn't good... It's also loud. Compared to my Miele S7-series, the Dyson had less suction, and pumped out about 5 times more particles. It's also 3 dB louder. My friend paid full price on the Dyson and was not pleased. As of this writing, his has also broken like others have reported here.

I'd spend a little more and stick to the Miele. It is robust and the service from Miele is phenomenal. You call, they pick up, they help and send you what you need.

We had a Dyson when we lived in the States and put it into storage because 220v doesn't work so good with 110v electrical items. We lived out in the community for about a year and had a German vacuum that was supposedly top notch. When we moved to where we had access to 110v, the first thing my wife went out and bought was this model of Dyson. There really is no comparison.

I bought this model on an earlier Woot! deal. Small house, two adults & a Chow-Chow that doesn't much shed as she is brushed. Sad to stay the curved bar you depress to allow unit to release from upright position went defective after perhaps a year of service. Broke my heart, I threw it in the trash. Just glad I didn't pay 2X elsewhere. Dyson? Never again.

I bought one of these from Woot several months ago. It is one of the easiest vacuums to push and can really suck up the dirt/lint, etc. Highly recommend it. 2 of my friends bought this model after hearing about mine.
