I second that - I'd buy a battery to resurrect my long-since defunct Roomba Discovery series.

Does this work with cats? I'd like them to stay in the living room.

The copy talks about keeping the Roombas from falling down stairs a few times. Don't they all automatically avoid stairs? (I know my 560 does, but maybe 400s don't?)

Does anyone know for sure... include proof.. if this works with the research edition (iRobot Create). I will get 3 if it does!

Edit:

I found out the answer:
"Full compatibility with iRobot Roomba 400 Series accessories including the rechargeable batteries, power supply, home base, remote control, and virtual walls."

Time to buy 3!

Taking a chance with 3. We have the 562 series, and googling online some people say it will work, some people say it wont, so at 8 bucks with worth a gamble.

All you need is a bit of superglue and a serving tray. If you surround it with these virtual walls so it keeps bumping intpo them it will even mix the drinks for you.

When an opaque wall isn't enough, when studs and drywall just won't do, the Roomba Virtual Wall is the one for you.

If I still had my Roomba I would definitely get these. Great deal if this matches your model. In fact, if I thought this would intimidate my cats into thinking the robotic spawn from hell was back, I would get three and just leave them lying around the house.

Never heard of the Research Edition, and seemingly neither has google. Are you sure you mean Research and not Discovery. Anyway, this will work with the 400 & 500 series models as a virtual wall only.

How close are they able to get to obstacles like sofas and table legs? Do they bump them hard enough to ding them or themselves? Oh yes. They do work on hardwood an pet hair. Our dog is shedding 1.68 long-hair cats worth of hair every day. I run the roomba when I leave for work and pull the nasty wad out of the bin when I get home. Wish they would invent one that would climb the bed and vac the bed-spreads.

I did the same with mine for awhile. I used a 6' 2x2 I had lying around. I have one but needed to cut off more than one area. These things do work great, and they are inconspicuous. I leave my one by the stairs, and I just turn it on when needed. My second rooba committed Roombacide off the stairs one day. I imagine my horror when I saw it busted open on the bottom of the stairs.

These things work surprisingly well with the older Roombas... for eight feet. It says 12, but it really only does about eight feet.

Still, eight feet is more than enough to stop it from going through a doorway.

No, there simply isn't room to hold large amounts of hair. A broom and a dustpan can't be beat for that.

I told myself that if I could get the house clean and then run it every day as a preventitive measure, it would work. Just like I tell myself if I actually applied myself at work instead of wooting, I'd get ahead. Fairy tales for adults.

Ours works great. It goes every night at midnight and we just dump out the collection tray every morning. Of course, having the pet series helps since it comes with an extra large collection tray.
