My roommate just moved out and took her vacuum with her.

But now I'm not splitting rent, and I'm financing a ski trip. Why must this woot-off be now?!

It does a very nice job between weekly vacuums. I'm very happy with it. I bought it to replace an old roomba and I'm glad I did.

mitchloft wrote:Really, does a vacuum cleaner really NEED an LCD screen? Srsly? No wonder they cost so much - It should have WiFi, a web browser, a nook reader, and all kinds of other things for $300. I got one of those Vizio pads for about half this much and it has all of that, PLUS a universal remote. The only thing it WON'T do is vacuum the floor.

mitchloft...haven't seen you in a while. How much do you have to pay to get your floor vacuumed (giggle)?

I have to say, this thing is absolutely amazing at eating kitty hair! Never clogs on my kitty's hair, gets into every nook and cranny, and the cat (who is terrified of vacuums) just thinks its fun to watch.

You have no idea how awesome this thing is.

Nothing - my Roombas do it. And the Scooba does the kitchen.

I'm noticing that the drive wheels on this thing look VERY similar to the ones on a Roomba. Industrial espionage?

I have one of the 2000 numbered buckets. It's full of w00t monkeys. Trust me, the bags just aren't that exciting any more. My last one had STRAWBERRY PLANTERS in it!

I got one of these when it was listed a few weeks ago, and it's QUITE GOOD. I used to have one of the second-generation Roombas and it failed on my regularly, and didn't end up lasting that long before it just stopped working altogether with a huge litany of problems. The Neato, however, works like a charm. You do have to be careful about thin cables lying around, but I just have it go every day at 11:30 and do my whole house, and unless it gets tangled on a phone charger or whatever it does an excellent job of cleaning all my floors.

It does have a little bit of trouble with one of my chairs, because it sits on a ring that's a little too low for the touch sensor to feel and its stand is shaped such that the robot has a tendency to ride up on it and get stuck or disoriented. However, it doesn't seem to prevent the robot from completing the daily cleaning.

Also, completely unlike the Roomba, it actually knows where it's going, and covers all of your floor without being completely redundant.

Just because the Roomba was the first doesn't mean it's the best.

I bought this on woot last month and I now have a serious robot vacuum crush. True, it sounds like an airplane taking off and has an incredible predilection to getting stuck under my couch, but I truly have never seen another vacuum clean so effectively.

Of course George Lucas made a droid out of a waste receptacle, I don't see how this one would have not fit in the movie...

olcubmaster

Damn - I was hoping this woudn't come up this Woot-off. Our 2 Roombas have died their last death and while iRobot has offered some replacement "trade up" for $160 (minus batteries, chargers, etc) I think this is the way to go.

I truly can't afford it but dare I hope it comes up again when the bank account is healthier or just try to rebudget in the hopes of a cleaner house and happier Mrs?
