I cut my thumb using it to peel fruit in the lunch room at work. I haven't touched it since.

Kinda creepy to be sittin' around work peeling fruit with a foldable pocket knife, isn't it? Please tell me you don't eat the fruit straight from the knife blade. (shivers)

I picked up 3 of the 1940ST (half serrated version) from a local sporting goods store for about the same price (Actually a little less). I carry one on a daily basis, and used the other two for gifts. Typical kershaw knives. Shaving sharp out of the box. It doesn't hold an edge quite as well as the two high end kershaws I own, but it is a chinese made blade (so, price over quality here). Definitely would recommend these for everyday carry or for the outdoorsman.

My husband has one of these for opening boxes at work. I got two more to put in our go bags, our other knives are not as big and these are extremely sharp, like everyone has been saying.

Would it be safe to mount these on your bicycle handlebars, and then ride through a crowd of people?

Have there been many lolcats? I feel that there has probably been a lack of them. So here:

It was the creepiest, knife wielding cat I could find in my quick search of the internetz.

Just purchased the Asset .. Seems to me it would make a nice little fillet knife

they make a good product, but you are not going to get great edge holding steel in a 13.00 knife. No need for hand made, but if the knife will not hold an edge, for me that is a deal breaker.

From an experienced user of these knifes.. I can tell you from first hand experience they hold an extremely great edge

Can this be considered a gravity knife under New York State Penal Law? If so, buyer beware. You might just get a misdemeanor weapons charge for having one in your pocket when you're patted down for... you know, looking suspicious and trying to run away from the cops.

It is?

The orange I was cutting doesn't taste the same if you eat the peel too.

In for 1 of each! I love the Kershaw ez open feature! And of they are super sharp. Knives are supposed to be sharp. Dull knives are more dangerous.

Nice knife but the spring broke on mine in the first week. Probably because I had so much fun flipping it open.

Man....it's a folding pocket knife. First handguns, now this?! Is NY even part of the USA anymore? Freaking commies.

I think the pointy one will be a good letter opener, or folding fillet knife, or zombie sticker, and the "Compound" will be good to take along on picnics for slicing salami and cheese or zombies.

Yeah, the steel is only 8CR13MOV and doesn't hold an edge like S60V, but on the plus side, these sharpen a lot quicker.

The clips are sad. What about removing them, and screwing the screws back into the knife.

Is any one more grippable?

From the responses so far I don't think they are.

Note that the liner lock is only used when the blade is extended. If you bump that button in your pocket, the blade will open; there is no safety lock on this version. I had a Ken Onion Kershaw for many years and my favorite feature was an additional slide lock near the base to keep it from opening. Worked just like the safety on a rifle. Keep that in mind if you'll be carrying it a lot in your pocket and reaching in an out.

If you're making solid eye contact with coworkers from across the room while slowly peeling the orange with your pocket knife, then yes it's a little creepy.

Yeah, California...no detachable magazines, no pistol grips, etc.

FWIW, Kershaw is based in Oregon (OreGUN *grin*), where so-called "switchblades" are legal. Apparently, they trust their citizens there. What a concept.

A Kershaw is my daily carry knife and yes, they are VERY sharp. Broke the handle on one after a decade of carry and they replaced the entire knife, no questions asked.

This is an assisted-opening knife and some states consider them "switchblades" (ah, a more innocent age - gang members carry guns these days). The Asset is the top knife in the pic and the Compound the bottom one.

In for one!
