Scratch that. As far as I know only the display side is useable for video chat.

I've use Skype to vid chat w/ either camera: there's even an icon to swap during a call.

Lots of places.. Internet or storefront? Not so many brick and mortar stores are carrying them, but you should have no problem getting a nice one sent to your house. I rotate between three, The original Motorola Protective Portfolio Case, The Incipio Silacrylic with integrated Kickstand, and the Belkin slim folio stand. Read reviews, take a cruise over to xoomforums.com or Motorola's own support forums and see what's said over there. NOTE: Be careful not to confuse the original Xoom sold here on Woot with Xoom FE (Family Edition) or Xyboard/Xoom 2, or other Xooms. They all take different cases. I'm a case nut, I believe in keeping my electronics protected, so I slip these in to a 10" tablet/netbook case with room to spare.

*One brand new seller lists it for around 323 with shipping as I write this, but the seller has zero history.

*And really, who cares if it's "BRAND NEW"? Same one year warranty applies, and WOOT's refurbs tend to be indistinguishable from brand new in most every way except for the packaging.

Woot cost for refurb is $326 shipped with tax.

The price on amazon , http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045FM6SU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A1SAU5M1QZVTHL

is $385.. So in my book that is a diff of $59 going from a refurb to a new one. I dont have a issue with refurb hence the reason i almost bought it. But when there is a $59 difference between a virgin one and a refurb, why not pick a new one.

Can someone clarify the GPS issue ? Does it have a true GPS or is it wifi ? If I am in the woods with no wifi available, will it find me ?

True GPS.

Unfortunately, no. You can however tether to a cell phone that has 3/4G and supports tethering via wifi.

Well, I wear glasses, and am probably more sensitive to displays with poor viewing angles. I have a lot of IPS tablets and the non-IPS one is the worst and hard to use. The colors to the left and right peripheral vision are different when viewing it straight on. That's just unacceptable. IPS is the way to go.

Unless you know some secret way to access Moofi, there is no Moofi special on such a product. moofi.woot.com redirects to woot.com and searching for Moofi deals on Deals.woot doesn't turn up a Xoom case at all.

Higher speed only matters for playing back hi-def video and if you don't like to wait long for data transfers. All other applications and media type are fine with 4.

I encouraged someone to pick up one of these the last time it was on woot (the batch that still had the last users info on it) and they did. It was a great purchase decision (I honestly wish I'd not gotten the Viewsonic gTablet and waited for one of these instead. Classic Buyers Remorse). My only problem with it is that the screen suffers from serious ghosting issues to the point that it's highly noticeable during video playback. If it wasn't for that (and the lack of ad-hoc support without rooting), I'd call it a near perfect unit.

It works great as well.

I blame that on HBO. I've done it, but it's a pain in the arse. HBO only allows 3G / 4G tablets and supported phones access to their HBOGO service, as well as computers and authorized devices (aka: Xbox 360). Wi-Fi only devices are out of luck. Some have attempted the build.prop and IMEI hacks with mixed success.

Not only can you use a stylus, you can also use a controller with it provided it uses USB and the game app supports it. The video game console emulators support controllers. There is also a way to use a wireless controller, but that involves rooting.

I really like mine - which I got from the earlier woot (with a subsequent $100 gift card for sending back and forth due to improper prep and leaving some previous user info on the one I got).

Principal uses are email, browsing, as a fantastic display for my acrylic and water color class photos (easy to take and transfer photos between this and other cameras and storage via Windows), and as a GPS for golf using Golf Shot app. The latter is somewhat behind IPAD version as the android version does not have per club distance tracking, but an update is in progress to add these features. Much better than spending several hundred on a standalone Golf GPS/rangefinder (the wi-fi version just has distances to major features screen versus map of hole if WiFi access is unavailable (license problem) - so if that is important to you think about a 3g/4g version instead.

First time buying on ebay, but the only thing I see in regards to warranty is the one backed by SquareTrade for 44.99. If you choose to go to the SquareTrade route -
"For Refurbished & Used Items: Coverage lasts 1-2 years as indicated at the time that you purchase your warranty. Coverage starts on the day after the manufacturer's warranty expires, or if there isn't a manufacturer's warranty, on the 46th day after your item purchase."

We probably won't know until the first one is received. Even then there may be differences, but still the same tablet. I'm just guessing here as I don't have any concrete evidence.

I just found out that it comes equipped with a 60-day warranty backed by the seller, Luckydogs.

From woot! FAQs
"I missed yesterday's item, can I still get one?
No. Each woot.com product is discontinued at 11:59pm central time. That's that. Period. We may get more at a later date if we're lucky, but we offer no guarantees, we allow no backorders, and we have no waiting/notification lists. Too bad."

But...there are a few on ebay. The one I purchased for the same price as the one on Woot(iirc) for 299.99: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110870154302+#ht_4673wt_1270

Snooping around I also saw:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTOROLA-XOOM-32GB-10-1-WiFi-Android-3-2-Tablet-MZ604-/251052592573?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item3a73e68dbd#ht_1399wt_1139
Used+Seller refurbished.

247.99 + 12.99(standard shipping) Which brings the grand the total to 260.98. A 90-day warranty is also included. In addition to the price, what makes this one different than the one I purchased, the latter (mine) is Verizon LTE Rdy while the former is not.

I read somewhere that only the Wi-Fi was getting the update to ICS. That was in Jan. Don't know if the GSM models are getting it by now.

Correction: I found this on Moto's site

As previously communicated, DROID RAZR, DROID RAZR MAXX, DROID 4, DROID BIONIC, DROID XYBOARD 8.2 and 10.1, and MOTOROLA XOOM WiFI + 3G/4G will be upgraded to ICS. Additional details on timing for these products will be shared at a later date.

Here is some more info on the tablet

I'm disappointed it's coming USPS, tracking updates are very, um, nonexistant. It goes from being "tracking information is received" to in my city in a matter of a day, aaaaaaand is now doing nothing? Awesome USPS. I just hope they don't do a no knock, leave a notice and make me go down to the post office to pick it up despite being home when they were here.

I'm not sure what you consider inexpensive, but for $20 on amazon if you search Zagg XOOM, they have the screen protectors on there that have a lifetime warranty. You would have to register the product since not directly purchasing from Zagg, but it's still worth it. Installation is a bit tough, but if you take dish detergent and put a about 5 drops in a large bowl of water and dip the protector and apply it that way, it's not too terrible. Make sure you wash and spray your hands with window cleaner. For a lifetime, scratch proof warranty, if you ask me it's worth the $20 and 20-30 minute installation.

Well much to the lack of USPS notification on tracking, it has arrived. On first sight, my xoom did unfortunately have an owner that dropped it. It has one obvious blemish, but besides that, it looks fine. I am rather surprised by the charger pin being different than my Motorola droid x and razr, though it still contains the same usb port, and if you plug your charger into it, it will tell you that usb charging is not supported. It has taken itself through three updates so far. Scratch that, four now. First three were simple updates, and the fourth is the ICS. For any Motorola user this tablet will feel like home. Now my biggest dilemma is whether I should return my Samsung galaxy tab 2 and get my money back or regift it to someone, seeing that it is a decent tablet... it's just not a xoom!
