That is a good price. We got the rabbit one, which is the one the girl used in the first video for $20 at TJ Max. No aerator for the wine, which is cool.

Woot, like most site sites with advertising online, uses an ad service. Customers of the ad service can limit the type of ads (adult, political, competitors, etc) which I'm sure Woot has done. Reporting to the customer (Woot) so they can complain to the ad service is the correct way to do things.

Actually targeted advertising works wonders. I'm getting Staples and Sears ads on woot as I've been shopping their sites lately. If I start researching buying a TV, all of a sudden ... I'll get TV ads, electronic store ads, etc.

You've never noticed that you start researching a purchase and all of a sudden all your banner ads are, mysteriously, relevant to what you happen to be looking for.

I'm wondering if the original poster of the political ad comments has been reading political blogs, etc. ?

I am better than everybody else!

Not looking to get into a flame war.

I've been coding HTML, CSS, etc for about 8 years now (not to mention digital animations and video production) ... so what would you like me to teach you about internetting ?

... and I replied to the wrong post. LOLing at myself

"reading political blogs" ?

I go out of my way to avoid them, but do get caught by blind links that friends send me occasionally.

Politics? As far as I know red and blue ones are still available. The plum looks nice to me though. ;)

I'm just hanging out, really.

Back to the deal...

I honestly don't understand the Amazon reviews. Like this happened last time and people commented the same way, I would say the same again.

READ THE MANUAL.

The engineering plastic is more than strong enough to pull any cork if used correctly. It should be effortless and mine has been working for years on the original screw. It stays at my office and helps my colleagues and my "relaxing" WUI (Working-Under-Intoxication) team spirit.

That said, I prefer the original Rabbit Houdini kit, even though it's $54 at Amazon. Given the long life, the difference in marginal cost is minimal. Even better, today it's cheaper for $37 at Fab, but that's limited time (for 2 days).

Once again, READ THE MANUAL. This thing works very well for the price!

And it appears to be $7.95 for shipping, making the total ~$45.

The other was a clip of Gingrich leaving the race and endorsing Romney. There was a tagline with the advertisers name just under the video window. two words but I don't recall anymore than that.

I don't care what anyones political affiliation is. I just don't want to be a victim of the ambush advertising both sides use. I would have complained if it was an Obama commercial too.

Sorry but I can't give you anymore that that.

I'm just going to echo another user, get AdBlock and join the (relatively) ad-free Internet.

There ain't no such thing as free. Ads make the internet work. Ads help to pay hosting and bandwidth fees. I even clik on the ads to help generate income for the sites that I like.

What I don't do is shop at sites that push politics onto my shopping experience. I like Woot enough (bought 8 items so far) that I will politely tell the site owners what I think, rather than just quit coming here altogether.

It's possible that the political advertiser mis-categorized their ads to circumvent requested categorical restrictions by network sites. If it happens a lot, then woot just isn't blocking political ads (yet). You're just being "retargeted".

FWIW - don't click on blind links from anyone. If someone is dumb enough to send them, they're equally prone to being infected by a virus that can mask itself in the same fashion. You may already know this, but I'm sure there are some people reading who don't.

The more you know

Ok, we don't like the auto-play ads either and will block them but we have to have the URL or domain to block. If it happens again, just PM me with the info.

I don't know that we can do much about political ads. 'tis the season.

So, ads are good. But not if you don't like them? That's insightful. Consider this...some of us don't like any of them. How does that grab ya?

Also, emails with blind links in them are often spoof emails that didn't actually come from your friend.

I'm well aware of how cookies are used for user tracking.

My response was to an rebel scumic comment of "I would be very surprised if it wasn't just your cookies throwing political ads at you and not Woot. .maybe learn something about the internet first before you start whining."

This thing makes opened wine so much nicer. I only wish came with a blade to cut the wrapper, or better yet, cut the wrapper as part of the process ;)

Items that are shipped by Amazon are sent UPS since that's what they use. I love it, UPS is so much faster than FedEx and tracking is actually in real time. I get notifications usually within a few minutes of delivery, which is great for me b/c I can just call down to the front desk and ask them to send the delivery up

I have seen these for two to three times as much. Maybe that's why I bought 3 of them. Great gifts and a must have for wine
