What I did buy for myself today - new dishes! I got mine in 1971, I think it's time. Husband's going to freak out when he sees they're square.

I'm still using my Fiesta that I bought about 15 yrs ago. Pink & blue. Grandma had Fiestaware so it gives me warm fuzzies. I have some old collector pieces on the tops of my cabinets in the kitchen.

I have had this alarm clock a long time...and...the 9v battery thing doesn't work in power outages...hopefully new one will...just in case...the OCD coming out again!

Edit: I always put a comforter/blanket over my electric blanket. Wouldn't that be enough to protect it from claws? I never really worried about it to tell you the truth.

I did see your comment...however, one of the kitties "digs" with her claws to get under the covers while the other two stay on top of the covers. She digs plenty strong enough to rip my sheets at times, so a mattress pad might be unnerving, too.

I can go from covers on to covers off in a matter of hours. So, the comforter on top of the electric blanket would expose me to some risk...

I guess it is my paranoia about electric blankets. When I was very young, I was in bed when one from Sears caught on fire. It burnt through the top mattress, my blankets and comforter...while I was still in bed. It was literally inches from my feet.
