I personally own a zune, and frankly, I love it. What I really hate is Mac-fanboys that just try to find a fault with every other MP3 out there, especially the Zune since it was made by their arch enemy... Microsoft. One thing I would really like to see changed on the zune is the software. I would really like to just use WMP, not have to smurf with a clone.

Also, iTunes is a crappy program as a media program. It uses a lot of resources (AMD dual core, 2 GBs RAM), and it has to open quicktime to play movies, which then uses more resources.

i got a 30gb ipod video.
i'm gonna sell it on ebay and get one these instead.

I have a 20gb ipod photo and bought this because its a decent price.
I love my ipod and just wanted to have a back up mp3 player or put different music on this so i can have a variety. I also have 2 cars so I can leave one in each car.

there's really nothing wrong with ipods. I would buy another ipod if it was on sale for $150

I have bought about 200 of my songs through the iTunes music store - out of @ 15,000 songs in my library. And even those that I bought, I burned to CDs then converted to AAC or mp3. the rest are ripped CDs and mp3 downloads from other places.

For videos, you go to youtube and paste the URL into vixy.net and it converts it to .mp4

id have to disagree. i have owned both the ipod and the zune. kept neither. why? cause they both BOTH suck ass. the thing is apple didnt invent the mp3 player. it just made one that worked decent. I actually have a sansa and love the lil 8gig player i paid 140 for. and yes i do listen to the radio. but come on apple sucks ass and so does the zune. now when they actually make an 8gig microsd ill just use my kaiser when it gets released and i buy it.

The larger screen would be great for video podcasts, but I think it only support WMV at 320x240, meaning pretty much almost everything available online would have to be transcoded. I hate transcoding, it's a waste of time.

Worth every penny. A more than worthy adversary to the iPod. If I were to make a comparison:

Pros:
-Doesn't use iTunes.
-Radio

THINK. For you and me, that may be the much more appealing option, but but yourself in someone else's shoes..... you have a 90 minute commute on trains, metros, and buses to get to work. U work 10 hours a day. Now you have another 90 minute commute to get back home. You have about 3 to 6 hours before u need to get back to work the next morning. With all the stuff one needs to do in life outside of work, that doiesn't leave alot of TV time on the actual tube

Apple better than MS... Oh yes you are correct... and that is why most all software runs on MS. That is why MS has developed a Apple emulator, and that is why most of the computers sold are Apple, that is why the founder of Apple is the richest man in the world (uh 2nd richest man in the world). That is why 1 original share of Apple stock has grown so much more than MS. Yup, you are correct.

Zune is a great product... as with computers in a few years the market will tell us all which brand is the most popular and most widely used.

Get the Zune, you will like it.

Step 1: Skip online stores.
Step 2: Buy the actual albums.
Step 3: Rip the cd.

my only complaint is its not compatible with a lot of codecs but hopefully rockbox will change that in the future. don't let the ipod fanboys fool you, it's a wonderful player.

who are you to claim which is the superior player? have you even used a zune before? i have a 5.5g ipod and my brother has a zune, and i feel that the zune is superior out of the two. after using the zune, the ipod's UI feels very outdated, and my brother has not had any problems with the zune whatsoever. for me, the ipod's scrollwheel is not very accurate and you can often scroll past what you are trying to select. the zune's controls are accurate and do exactly what you need it to. after using my brother's zune, my ipod's screen looks TINY and it's way more of a strain on my eyes. what exactly are you basing your assumption that the ipod is the superior player on? that it's "half as good as an ipod"? "oh just because it has a bigger market share, it's the SUPERIOR player." rofl, who's the tool now? yeah there are some fanboys that buy and promote the zune just because it's not an ipod, but half the reason why the zune isn't successful is because of the idiots who go "OMG IT'Z NOT AN IPOD IT'S A PIECE OF CRAP." please, enlighten me on why the ipod is "twice as good" as the zune. so who are the tools? IMO it's half of the silly goose zune haters who have never even USED a zune before to base their opinion on it.

theres one major flaw in the zune.
the marketplace.
its completly empty.
no podcast, videos, etc, and verry little music.
and ripping cds is a pain in the but, and you have to pay for all the songs.
