At least there is truth in the marketing. I am not a big fan of the SmartPost, but it is better than EGL.

My understanding is that FedEx picks up all orders for the woot depot station. They in turn farm it out to the lowest bidder for delivery (normally UPS) when SmartPost is selected as the delivery option. If an item is over a certain weight limit (75 lbs I think), they have to use an alternate carrier like EGL.

Don't hold me to any of that; I am only repeating what others have told me.

Incorrect. FedEx picks it up, brings it to your local PO (another outside agency might go from the big sortation center to your local PO), and then the PO delivers it to you. The package MUST be under 70 pounds, however, if it is over that (you lucky dog, you got a really good crap), you may just have to email them and they will send out your good crap FedEx/EGL/etc.

FedEx Smartpost is a (crappy) alliance between FedEx and USPS.
