I resubmitted my design for the latest derby, and so I'm letting people know it's out there. I lost a lot of time, and potential votes and so I come begging, for a few more. =)

Oops, yep, I meant geekfactor. But I had aliens on the brain, so that's where the messup occurred. Sorry to you both! But I do like them both... wish I could draw like geekfactor too

Hi Folksies!

I have a new entry (actually a revision based on feedback. If you voted for it before, PLEASE DO SO AGAIN!!!

Thx!

i'm getting sick of all this BS crap i'm catching for commenting on people's shirts.
Since when are you not supposed to give your opinion or point out things that others need to know.
They clearly did it on my "no shirts" shirt. Didn't see me complaining.

I like the furled up flag on the top, and how the dude with the mowhawk is happy to be where he is, whilst the "free" ones are all angry.

Thanks! I'm glad you like the version, though I wish I could have thought of another way to show civil disobediance besides flag burning...

Yeah, I agree, they are whiny. Hiding behind a false name strikes me as particularly poor.

I mean seriously do you think i was being really rude? I just don't see it. I merely stated that they exist. Thought others might like to know. And there is no way woot rejected those shirts just because i made a comment about it. People had to have "tattled" on it.

no. statements about my late hallowen night shirt were made on the level of "this is the worst T-shirt ever designed." and "this is the lamest shirt ever". "This shirt should never be made". Those comments were made by someone who was in the fog with me the whole contest. Makes me think that this person knows about that, hence their name 'mrdoc' which might lead one who didn't know me very well to think it was me.

Clearly there's an unwritten clause that if you get near the fog you have to withhold all opinions and shut up. But then again, there's a lot of negativity on shirt.woot since they upped the ante for winning.

Another thing I'm unsure about is the copyright clause for designs: IE: The "Bill" in the fog. I don't care if it's slightly different than the original, it's definitely aimed to be close in design to the Schoolhouse Rock character. Especially since it's rolled up and stamped, and real bills are never rolled up and stamped. Only in the cartoon. Guess I'm just frustrated for all the designers that make inventive and new illustrations (and I don't claim to be in that group), and never get more than 30 votes, but copycats can get in the fog.

Okay, ahem, back to positivity...

Heh. Remember the acidic flak I got for my -1 design? That was borderline verbal assault.

I'm starting to believe that the rule about having to buy at least one thing under an account before being able to vote should also apply to being able to post in the derby threads. Then at least they would have to waste a little money before they can try and sneak in under a new name just to bash someone.

Just keep drawing and you'll get there- gaining drawing skills was my new year's resolution last January. Prior to that, I hadn't drawn much at all since high school (and even then, I wasn't every good). As with anything, it's a matter of how much time you put in.

That makes me crazy, too. I've tried to be diplomatic when I point stuff out like that, but it doesn't seem to help. It makes no sense- if Woot is going to reject it anyway, wouldn't you at least want to have the warning of someone posting in the comments first? I'm morally opposed to fake accounts, but lately I'm really starting to sympathize with the people who use them (not the ones who use them for evil, of course).

Some people are taking things waaaay too personally. I don't get it- even negative comments help you to get better for next time. I'd rather hear that than hear nothing.

I was going through all of my serif fonts while working on my shan webby award entry earlier. I was surprised at how good Times looks compared to some of the others.

Have you used this program MW-fonts?
It shows you a sample of each font installed on your computer. vary the size and the text. Someone here talked about it a while back, and I use it a lot. Really easy to use and very handy for choosing a font.

well it was a good run ... but looks like my chances have diminished. Especially after cho's latest entry ... which i think might have a chance of beating tgentry's tree.
