WOOT HOO!!!!! I received the travel pack today. With it being a freebie I would have expected it to be an aftermarket kit, but it was the Microsoft travel pack.

I waited and finally filed a dispute with paypal on November 27, 2007. I forwarded this to woot's customer service AND their paypal email address. I told them if I did not hear from them in 24 hours I would escalate it to a claim. Of course they did not reply and I escalated it to a claim. On November 29, woot provided me and paypal with the smartpost by fedex tracking number. Things were going well until December 4. The tracking shows my Zune to be in Grove City, OH on the 4th with an estimated "in home" date of December 8.

Needless to say, the tracking hasn't changed since that time and as of today, I still have no Zune. I notified paypal that I was waiting for the item before closing my claim with them. I now have an email in to Fedex. I am waiting and if there is no Zune in the my mail by December 12, I will proceed with my claim.

This was my 2nd woot and will be my last. This is ridiculous. I don't know if the weather is causing the delay but had it been shipped in 5 days as promised, I would have it by now.

Well what a waste of my time. Just got this letter from woot, it's been almost 2 weeks since I emailed them asking for information regarding my package or to send me new zunes. I figured ordering on Nov 12th I'd have no trouble getting them before Christmas. I guess I should have ordered one from amazon.

Now what to do with the zune accessories I ordered (cases and a 2nd travel pack), plus the jabra headphones I got as a "VIP"...

I think part of the problem with lost/missing Zunes is that the address label says that Zunes are inside the box.

I got my ZUNE back from Microsoft repair today, my problem (the headphone jack had a cold connection so only one audio channel played) was resolved by replacement, so I ended up with brand new black ZUNE (no refurb (rox0rz!) sticker on the back anymore) , however the warranty was not extended to full year, just 9 months as my original refurb (rox0rz!) from WOOT.

Well, I got my Zunes and, surprise, no travel pack. They just showed up one day. I wrote WOOT so we'll see. Both my Zunes work perfectly after a full charge, upgrade ,synch and the works so I guess i keep them, reluctantly.

I keep writing for the travel pack and maybe someday receive it after New years I'm certain.

STILL NO ZUNE. FEDEX SMART POST HAS THE PACKAGE IN OHIO WHERE IT HAS BEEN SINCE DECEMBER 4!!!!! THEY TELL ME THEY MESSED UP ON THE SCANNING AND "HOPEFULLY" IT WILL LEAVE OHIO IN A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT COULD NEVER TELL ME WHEN IT WOULD LEAVE OHIO. EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN THERE 8 DAYS.

I connected today for the first time since buying the Zune as a gift and I wanted to get the latest Zune 2.0 software updates. I'm not sure any firmware/software was updated though.

How do I find the version installed on my Zune?

On my pc the Zune Help says V1.3.5728.0 but maybe this is the pc version of Zune software.

2.1.888.2 is the upgraded version. You need to go to the Zune Site and download the newest version. When I installed my software it asked then did it automatically. Once you update the software you plug in the Zune and it tells you you need to update your firmware to use the program. I let the program do the work and all went as designed on both my Zunes.

Woot told me they will be shipping my trave kit soon. I bought a second one on eBay for $25. Really happy with these Zunes. Nice piece of hardware for the money. It was worth the hassle and the wait I'll have to admit. Buy.com has them for $109 shipped this week in White.

Looks like the special price is off for now on buy.com. I tried to find another deal, but all of those were over too. I'm sure it will come back but it may not before Christmas. I'd keep checking. You are more likely to find a deal on the brown Zune than the black or white.

Hey. I'm still hoping to procure some zunes, so I'm going to hold on to them now.

I actually got the cases from amazon. Plastic gel ones with an arm strap.

If you'd take a minute to read through this entire post, you'd know that woot sold more Zunes than they actually had (an accident that could easily happen when you have hundreds of people hitting "I Want One" instantaneously). Check to make sure your PayPal account / credit card have been billed, if they have, then file a dispute. I'm sure your money will be refunded.

I received my 2 Zunes, but I'm still waiting for the Travel Pack. Are the Travel Packs also in short supply, or do I still wait?

Connect the Zune to your computer and charge it. Ignor any error messages or messages to install software that your computer gives you. Just charge it. Once charged disconnect the Zune and install the original software. Once installed open the program while on line and it should tell your there is a software upgrade. It's a very big file so if you don't have DSL or HS Internet service do it before you go to bed and pray it downloads OK.

You can also go to the link above and download the software. Once downloaded and installed, plug in the Zune and the program should tell you your Zune needs to be upgraded to the newest Firmware. Do the upgrade and you should be set.

Believe it or not it only took 2 messages to get a reply. It took 5 or 6 to get a reply on the Zunes.

Well, finaly got the Travel Pack. Nice addition. The premium earphones are not much better than the originals though. The tone is still a little tinny and you can't tell much difference between the EQ settings. Not enough bass in any setting. They are more comfortable.

My wife bought me a set of Bose for Christmas. Oh man, oh man, what a huge difference. The settings on the Zune EQ make a big difference now with the Bose earphones. Once you put a set of Bose in your ears you won't want to use anything else. They are fantastic!!

I want to know why anyone would wait over a month, almost 2 months, on an item they paid for and still hasn't been delivered. By the end of week 3, if I hadn't received a valid tracking number, or a response of some adequate measure of apology, I would have most definitely filed a dispute with my credit card company or paypal.

earlier i sent them an email and they said i should have my zune on dec 26 so i waited a few days after that and sent them another email.

I bought three of these for the wife and kids and am the one in charge of syncing, charging, etc. I have the 80G iPod (which is MUCH easier to deal with even WITH a seperate program to alter tags for the Zune).

My question is... why the apparent lack of functions on the Zune? I mean, this IS a Microsoft product and, to the best of my knowledge, MS has NEVER released anything close to an OS without solitaire! Why no game function on the Zune?... or seperate TV and audiobook cats?

I've cruised the Zune forums and learned, hrough the kindness of strangers, how to straighten up my album tags and how to fool Zune into believing an audiobook is really a podcast, but why has MS actively ignored these aspects?

Those are questions better suited to the Zune.net forums. Having said that, we have to remember that it's meant to be a mediacentric device, not a computer, so my presumption is that MS focused on delivering a solid media experience to the user. As nice as multi-function devices can be, sometimes it's best to do just one thing well, instead of 10 things in a marginal fashion....

If you bought your zune during this exact woot then you are still under warranty. Contact zune support at 1-877-GET-ZUNE and they will most probably replace your zune for you.
