Not sure if anyone has checked but.

I could not find a description of the train on

http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/category/toy.html

That is not to say it doesn't have lead in the paint.

I don't know about lead paint, but I got the trains today. Have to say they are well worth the price.

An excellent Woot.

Bought six, planning on giving all but one to Toys for Tots.

Other than a kid licking the locomotive, don't see a need for concern. Can't see any reason why any kid would lick these things.

P.s. If you are planning on giving these as a gift or Toys for Tots, don't forget to include a package of AA batteries. Takes two of them.

Have to go, my cats just attacked and derailed the running train [knew something was up when they were staring at it running on the track.] Evidence of crime below:

Review: .5/5 (yes thats point 5 out of a possible 5)

i regret ever buying this POS, it looks nice and all. But even after having this on perfectly straight wood and tiles, the trains have YET to complete a full circle without falling off the track. They always fall off about 1/4 of the way into the circle no matter WHERE i start it from.

The tracks are very flimsy so be careful (i guess thats what i get for 4.99), I was gonna give this to some of the little kids in my church who are less fortunate, but I feel it would make them even more less fortunate to have this crappy train, I will just buy them something that they can enjoy for a long time.

I have a good feeling, that this wont last more than one week, Im already wanting to throw this away. The latch that connects the trains are broken or hanging off.

I was really anxious to receive this, and now am utterly dissapointed. Wont ever expect anything quality from woot again.

Im glad that I ONLY lost 20 dollars in (3trains plus shipping) the process, but for those who feel like they missed out, trust me you didnt. And worst comes to worst, you can find a few of these in your fellow wooters monday morning trash containers outside of their homes.

Happy Holidays!

Well I got mine and they run perfect around the track.

I did have to get on my hands and knees to make sure that all the wheels were on the track. So check on that. Also, had to carefully make sure each track was fully flush with each other.

Seems pretty well constructed to me. Not a Lionel or even a $40 set, for sure, but seems nice enough and definitely not worthy of a "POS" title.

Regrets you are having problems. Just posting that my sets [I too have 3, of 6 total, that arrived today] all work well. But I can see where one might have received a bad set. But all three of yours are defective?

I am glad I tested all mine, as you are right, nothing worse than to give a defective toy as a gift.

For those commenting on shipping, mine arrived today [December 3]. It seems these were a bit more delayed than my other Woots, that had been ordered after these trains. Not sure why.

But for getting an e-mail these shipped, I was wondering where they were.

I am in San Francisco and the shipping label indicates shipped from Texas via SmartPost [aka by donkey.]

I think I found the culprit, the front wheels of the main train with the motor has a wobble to it, i always placed the train properly on the tracks. But it always wobbled, and to my inspection the wheels on the motor definatley are the culprit. Not sure if the plastic wheels arent round, or maybe the axle is bent.

I only opened one because I was going to give the rest as gifts. I know it may not deserve POS title, but these are definatley not even worth the 5 dollars I paid for them. As others have mentioned this is dollar store quality. Of course its not 40 dollars either, but i bought it with intent to give it as gifts for the holidays, and i am really dissapointed.

Hopefully everyone else has better luck, unlike the bunch of us who got or didnt get they poor build ones.

My tracking says "Nov 30, 2007 10:33 AM
Package data transmitted to FedEx
CARROLLTON, TX "
Been saying that for days. Don't know what's up with that or when I'll see the trains. Pretty strange to take so long. Did the Cheap Crap Train Co. bail out on their delivery to WOOT!?

Why is it taking so long? I ordered on 17 Nov., and just now saw it's being shipped on 3 Dec., not to arrive till the 7th of Dec. Way too long - shame on Woot.

I agree - a regrettable delay. I believe there were a few hundred sets oversold somehow. scrambling was done and we found a small batch to avoid cancellations but not without considerable delay for those affected by our mistake.

Originally I was supposed to get this on the 3rd. About an hour ago it finally changed to the 6th. It spent five days in WV, and now it's been sitting 20 minutes from my house for two days and will sit there at least another day. Funny thing is I ordered something from another website and it's also being sent smartpost and here is it's lack of progress:

Somehow this one only spent two days in WV. I have never seen such horrendous shipping progress in my life. Can someone explain what is so smart about Smartpost when you can pay less than five bucks for priority mail and have it arrive in 3 days max?

At least you guys are getting statuses and locations... I only yesterday got this much:

Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on December 3, 2007 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

Woot staff... give me a status or cancel my order, please. Thanks.

25+ Wooter who actually paid for his ADOPTME Roomba... I deserve better, and if you can't deliver, then hire more staff.

For shipping complaints:

I ordered three sets under one account, three under another. I got one set of three a few days ago. But the other sets have yet to arrive.

Same name, same mailing address, same order date 17 days ago. Go figure.

But since mine go to my U.S.P.S. post office box, 17 days is not that long when you calculate in the holiday and weekends. The USPS is notoriously slow during holidays. Heck, it's a 20 minute wait in line at my post office to pick up packages. Worse than when I was in Italy.

IMHO, and really it's my opinion only, I would not be concerned until it gets to around 21 days, which is about 7 days beyond average shipping for any means involving the USPS [non-Priority].

Doesn't Woot advertise that shipping can take three weeks and not to complain until six weeks goes by? Thought I saw that somewhere.

Just got mine today but the package was already opened? The locomotive was missing one set of wheels on the back. That made me sad, but I just took one set off one of the other pieces and it still works fine. I wish I would have gotten more than just one now though because those three pieces look so lonely under the tree!

Mine arrived yesterday, I got three sets. These are nice little units, about HO gauge in size. The locomotive needs two AA batteries. As a toy for small children they probably wouldn't last very long (but I know kids who could break an anvil in less than a hour). As a Christmas decoration under the tree they are great!
