In your case, there are normal processes they follow for claims reporting back to fedex that I'm not aware of - perhaps they need some info in that regard. Service is solidly catching up from their delay (now that we have some better automation and cross trained staff helping.) No reason for extreme angst though - you have the Roomba you ordered and the $10 coupon -- the rest is simply us asking for help to recover from our mistake.

Packy wrote:I've only seen one comment regarding the front caster (castor?) wheel so I'll post my question:

What kind of front wheel did everyone get on their units?

Is it a wheel that swivels freely, or one that is fixed? I got a white and gray Discovery, and the front caster is fixed. I haven't seen any swirl marks on our hardwoods yet, but I've read numerous accounts on other forums about the fixed caster leaving marks since it's in a fixed position.

If I do notice marks, I'll be contacting iRobot for a replacement caster or a different Roomba.

Thanks!

Mine swivels freely.

I am also a bit confused about the "previous life" of the actual unit that I have. It says "Scheduler" on the case, and on the bottom it says 4230 (with "R" stamped next to it). But..... From all the images I've seen so far online, it resembles the Discovery SE model. With three buttons forming the long panel, not three round buttons like on the schedulers I've seen online. From Woot's image it looks just like the one on bottom right: gray color and everything precisely as on that image, but instead of "Discovery" it says "Scheduler" on the case:

So I am confused, as to whether my roomba actually was a scheduler in its previous incarnation, or it is a former discovery SE with scheduler innards/firmware that has also been re-labeled for whatever reason....... I wonder if there's a way to tell from a serial number.......

It's PRR04296070011xxxxxxx. It kind of suggests to me that the serial number has been changed to reflect it's now 4296... The one I'm posting is a number from a sticker inside of the battery compartment. Is there any other place where original SN can be located (without disassembling the unit, which I don't want to do at least until after it's off the warranty)?

It's tough to speak directly to the issue that caused your shipment not to go out-- that service response is certainly less informative than we'd like it to be. It could have been an order held incorrectly in fraud, pulled aside for a barcode error, had a label fall off the box before it was scanned, or any number of internal to woot process drop-offs -- on larger volume woot deals there are generally a handful that run into problems. I suspect that they identified exactly what you could see from the tracking report and ran an individual order to the warehouse - that would mean FedEx Home Delivery Ground service from Texas to you starting today.

We do have service team working on 'just received' emails actually while they catch up on the back end, so you have a reasonable chance of communicating the need to cancel before the replacement shipment goes out.

My original order made it to my state, but then there was an issue with a barcode and it was returned to sender. Fedex said that woot received my roomba back on November 28th. Do you know what I should expect from here? ie they will reship with a fixed barcode and give me a new tracking number, refund, send another roomba, etc.?

It should be reshipped, but you may want to go ahead and get in touch with service@woot.com. Make sure to include your order number and let them know what's up. It may take a few days for the service department to process and get a replacement (re)shipped, as they're a bit backed up right now.

The scheduler is a scheduler - regardless what the "skin" color is!!!! The outside is a shell. The inside is the scheduler! All the 4xxx are the same except some originally didn't have a computer update to schedule. They (all the 4296) have the smarts now and regardless of what they say on the shell, are the same inside!!!!

If your bot came with white walls and a white remote and schedules, it is exactly the same as everybody else got!!

The color - who color coordinates their vacuum to their decor??? If that is an issue, trade with another wooter or sell it and pay more to have the "right" color flow in your home...
Sorry to be so abrupt, but this has all been addressed.

If you turn your roomba on it belly, on the left hand side of the wheel with the numbers stamp on it, that a model of original roomba before upgrade from irobot.

You're exactly correct, the PRR04296 prefix indicates it's been upgraded to a 4296. They reused old bodies, but upgraded them to the 4296, so your good to go, even though it may not quite look like the Scheduler unit.

Yes, I know all that, and I am not complaining about getting anything other than what I ordered. It's just a matter of trying to find out about the previous life of my roomba. Just like some people (there are whole religions about it) try to figure out who or what they were in their previous incarnations. Not to complain, just to satisfy my curiosity!

As I mentioned in earlier post - it has 4230 (which is a model number of original scheduler) on the bottom and word "Scheduler" on top. Which normally would mean it was a scheduler indeed... BUT, as far as I can tell, there never was a gray scheduler model that looked like one on bottom right in my prior post. That's what made me wondering. Or was there?

Just wanted to say that I really like my Roomba and think this was an awesome deal. I wish I had received a errant second one - I would snatch it up in a heartbeatl.

We have mostly hard flooring with throw rugs and three pets - my new little robot friend loves cleaning up all that pet hair and does an awesome job on the hard floors.

The first few times, it couldn't find its way home before it collapsed of exhaustion in the middle of the floor, but today I found it sleeping in its cradle after a hard days work.

One thing I've heard to avoid scratches is to put a strip of electrical tape around the front wheel. It's softer than the wheel, so it will avoid scratches. It will also help extend the life of the wheel. You'll probably need to replace it from time to time, though. Don't do this if you have a caster wheel that is half white and half black. There is an optical sensor that looks for the white/black to tell if the wheel is turning. You shouldn't need it if you have the caster wheel anyway.
Keith

Thanks for the reply Keith. Yeah, I started noticing circle scratches on our floors already so I'm going to talk with Roomba and see if they can help me out. From the sampling in this thread, it seems like around 60 to 80% of people got Roombas with a rotating caster. The casing I got is from a 4210 (white body, gray bumper Discovery) and the frame/body is labeled 4330.

Something on our side of things went wrong. The site could be overloaded, or you may have tried something we didn't test.

Your best bet is to try again. If you get this error page consistently, we'd love it if you'd write us, telling us exactly what you did to get the error. With any luck, we'll fix the problem, and it'll work the next time you try.

I'm really puzzled too. I got 2 gray/gray ones, marked Rhoomba Discovery. They came in differently shaped boxes, but both said Scheduler, and had a picture of the Blue one. Both have the 4296XXX Serial No. They have the 3 buttons nestled close together like the picture on the lower right of your photo.

One is labeled 4225, which I think is a return from Costco, and it has a swivel front wheel, and a wall mount.
The other one is labeled 4210, has a fixed front wheel, and no wall mount.
Neither one had an extra brush pack, nor the cleaning tool.

The 3rd one is white, labeled 4210, has 4 round buttons spaced apart, has a fixed wheel, and Serial No.4299. I have no idea what that serial number means!

And, what I really, really, wanted was the BLUE ones. I hate the gray ones. The white one is OK, I guess, but I don't think it's a scheduler at all. I suppose I could pay $20 each for a skin to cover it. The coral reef skin would match my tropical theme. And the reason the color matters.....well, because if they are scheduled to run, you can't hide them away in a closet, so they have to fit the decor of the room!!!

After digging some more on google, I did find a picture of a roomba that is just like mine... But it's on a Chinese web site, and I don't understand a word there :/... Just wonder... Hm... Any Chinese speakers can tell me what's going on here?

There's one more thing that caught my attention on that Chinese site - the box pictured (the only things with English labels) lists and shows the spare brush as a part of the package, just like Woot listed it! Makes me wonder if this was the package they thought they were selling in the first place...

Question:

I'm an experienced Roomba owner with a total of 3 now, and I've never ran into any serious issues I couldn't resolve. But my 2nd 'adopted' Roomba keeps chucking it's spinning 'corner brush' just moments after it starts cleaning. The piece has a screw-head on it, but there doesn't seem to be any threading at the end, or the piece on the Roomba it would seem to screw into. I tried a dab of superglue, but that didn't hold long.

It seems to snap into place just fine when I reattach it, and takes quite a tug to pull it back off. But as soon as I start it cleaning, it flies off. Anyone know if this piece snaps in, screws in, or is totally snapped in half in my case? TIA.

My memory on this is a little shakey, I havnt experienced it myself, but have read of the problem on the irobot forums. I am fairly sure it is ment to screw in and that the threading being stripped has been a problem before. You may want to check out the irobot forums at irobot.com and see if they can answer with a soulution.

I think it's best to assume that since it was a listing error on woot's part and not a contents error from iRobot that the 'accidental roombas' are known now not to include the brush kit. Basically it's best to understand this upfront and allow FedEx pickup of the accidental roomba if the brush kit listing error carries over in expectation.

Not that it's particularly relevant to explain the listing error at this point, but I did discover that it originally occurred (months ago I believe on a previous woot) due to a reference check of included contents on this identical sku: http://www.amazon.com/Remanufactured-iRobot-Roomba-Cleaning-Scheduler/dp/B000FOCHI4 Apparently they now have the contents correct - we double failed in that this second sale we used our old sale contents incorrectly yet again.

Very soon, I'm going to be putting a video camera into my living room so I can finally find out who is dumping all the hair & dust in my living room. Everyday, the bin comes back 50%-75% full. Every single day. Yup, I got two dogs but they're chihuahuas and only one is the shedder.
