sewoot wrote:It is better because of the scheduler remote and the two scheduler virtual walls (but mainly the scheduler remote). However, for me the scheduler remote is just something I want but I probably won't actually use the scheduling feature to tell the truth. Mainly, it's an accessory upgrade form the one you mentioned. The remote is 40 bucks and now comes with some replacement brushes and filters on the irobot site. The cleaner has all the features it seems. Between spot mode, max mode and the dirt detect feature I think that spot is most useful. That way if you make a localized mess you can just put the roomba on it and press spot clean and it won't waste time cleaning the whole room. The other features, max and dirt detect, well they're good to have but you probably wouldn't miss them if they were not included.
I have the one that was120 during the wootoff and the only difference is the scheduling feature. Mine came with 2 virtual walls and replacement filters as well. It also came with a remote to control the roomba.

Model numbers are definitely confusing. My first one was called the iRobot® Roomba® Sage with Convenience Pack Model 4110 - 139.99. All of the others have been exactly the same except for the accessories so they had different names like - iRobot Roomba Discovery SE $162.36 and iRobot Roomba 4296 Remote Scheduler Robotic Vacuum $151.54. The ones i have seen look exactly the same except for accessories AND the vac says 4110 model on two of them. One of them I don't know what it looks like because my sister won't let it out of the trunk of her car. Don't ask - I have begged her to plug it in and just watch it for fun. Now I realize I have a Roomba addiction - Roombas anonymous; twelve step program anyone?
Robots clean my house. Just bought 2 Schedulers to help out my first robot. One down stairs and two upstairs. I love my roomba!
My First woot! My virtual spousal unit is going to love this thing... My real spousal unit is going to be looking at me so funny Christmas morning...
ldemarti wrote:how is this on hardwood floors?
My house is nearly all hardwood and linoleum, it does a great job on it... I've got three shedding cats that usually mean tumbleweeds blowing across the floor when the furnace comes on, Roomba takes care of it... It does well hopping from hardwood to rugs too, usually not a problem unless a rug thread is coming loose, then it will eat it and get stuck, that's really more a discredit to my lousy rugs than the Roomba... I love the thing.

If it does end up being a Roomba Discovery, it converts into a Roomba Scheduler... Last year, I bought online from iRobot.com, they must have been getting rid of the last of the Roomba Discovery series, because it was a sweet holiday deal with the Scheduler upgrade, the extra brush packs, all that jazz... The remote comes with an interface cord, you plug it into Roomba, the programming is updated, and it's all of a sudden a Roomba Scheduler...
How does this work on bird feathers and bird "dust" ? I have molting cockatiels.....

Cool, I used the schedular remote on my roomba Sage, it worked. But It's part of my Mom's package so I ordered this one to have the scheduler remote and a spare roomba. Now I need more details about the interface cord...I haven't seen one. Does it have special ends or is it like a normal mini USB type cord? I saw the connector opening on her remote. It did not come with the cord though.
Why the hell did you get rid of paypal...
Just got one, finally, I can replace my girlfriend now!
Saw these at Sears on Saturday and thought...."mmmm Woot has way better prices for roomazoomzoombas". Lo and behold...I'm in for 1.
is this really 18'' in Diameter ? wow didn't realize how big it is till after i bought it.
I'm in
MAN woot, you're screwing me lately. First I spent 20 hours online during the wootoff to NOT get a Bandolier of Carrots and now you're offering this for $40 cheaper than I spent on it just a few weeks ago?!? SUCK.
aoviss wrote:Yeah, like I'd cheat on my Dyson with THAT. Pfft.
You also have to balance out the advantages of having a roomba mistress. Oh sure, your dyson will be jealous but deep down inside, it wants it too.
takingbackrachel wrote:it will not eat cables, its great, it will run over cables and wires and just keep going, we had them at the store and we never had any problems
I had a markedly different experience. It eats cables (especially thinner gauge ones). It eats curtains (even if they just barely touch the ground. Also, it has gotten stuck on the cables it hasn't eaten. Look, the Roomba is awesome once you set up your room to be Roomba-friendly; but that means no bed skirts, no fabric covered decorator's tables, and no wires tucked under your bed.
This was awesome-- for about 4 months. Then the scheduling feature stopped working. Now I have to actually REMEMBER to clean! Usually I buy reconditioned stuff without much worries, but I guess this time I got burned.
Love Roomba (I have three); now waiting for a Scooba.
Another Roomba. Worthless to me - no carpeting, just wood and tile...
I'm a first time sucker, eh wooter.....and I've been snooping here for a while and decided to take my first plunge with this roomba! I've saw these in action and they work very well.... Im excited by this price and looking forward to my first woot!
Been lurking and had to jump in. Can you believe that yesterday my wife actaully asked for this for X-mas?
Perfect timing!! I have two Roombas: a Scheduler which cleans my bedroom/bath/closet at 6AM M-F, and a 400 (free with Scooba) that I taught to schedule, that cleans the living room/kitchen/hall at 7AM, M-F. I had just decided that the pigeon's room could use a dedicated Roomba to clean in the evening, because he is _so_ dusty! Now I have an army of four. No kidding these things are addictive! Nanci
In for one - my wife was agreeable - merry Christmas, dear -Martin <><
I have a 4100 Roomba Red that I loved passionately, while it worked. I am a bachelor and own my own house and have a 32 pound cat that sheds a lot. Well, the Roomba was awesome, I used it every few days, it even sucked up some cat crap occasionally. Once it puked out and I called support and they sent me a cartridge to plug in to the serial port and upgrade the Roomba's OS, which solved the problem at the time. In all, I had to contact support 3 times on mine, and each time they were very helpful except the last time which is after my Roomba died and it was a couple of months out of warranty. I had only paid $50 for it on clearance at Home Depot and they wanted to send me a new refurbed one for $100. I said screw it. But while it lasted it did do a lot of sucking, er I mean, cleaning. It also broke down a couple times but each time support was great and got it back up and running until the warranty had expired. Even though I am stuck with a useless dead red Roomba I would still recommend as it was really great while it worked. Just make sure the warranty is good and solid if you're going to put it into hardcore duty like I did mine.
addicted to woot and no paypal now.crap

http://www.robotadvice.com/irobot-roomba-scheduler_robot.html My first one (bought new) made it 18 months before a sensor failure. The one I bought from WOOT! made a litter over a month before complete failure. The review above points out that it is common for them to break within 21 days. I will NEVER by another Roomba. The do not handle dust very well, clogs the sensors. Pet hair is even worse on them. Oh, and yes, I cleaned them weekly, even blew it out with air every 4 weeks.
I ordered the roomba from a couple of months ago. Same model just cost more. I love it. I run it every day or so and it gets the dog and cat hair. House looks cleaner. Still have to vacuum every so ofter with the upright but this does a great job. The first time or two that I ran it filled up the dirt bin because it got under the couch and beds where the upright can't go. No problem now that I run it almost every day. I'm trying to think of a reason to buy another.

Yes, the truth is they will fail. If you want to pay the significantly extra price, you can buy one from Hammacher Schlemmer, with a lifetime guarantee.
How lame... I payed $199 for a 4200SE 2 weeks ago
So many Roomba's. So little time. I finally caved in and bought one.
So, now that the NEW Roomba's are out... when are we actually going to see one on here?
olperfesser wrote:Another Roomba. Worthless to me - no carpeting, just wood and tile...
They work best on tile and wood flooring according to everyone I talk to with one.
This is worth the money. Set something in the floor in front of the cables. It will be OK. It's great for cleaning under the bed. It does not do well transitioning from tile floors on to thick rugs. Sometimes it will make it, sometimes not. However, it does figure out that it can't make it and turns to go a different direction.
MastaSquidge wrote:They work best on tile and wood flooring according to everyone I talk to with one.
True
Go to Amazon.com and read all the comments from people who gave it (the refurbished model) only 1 star. I normally figure there are always going to be a certain percentage of malcontents, but these people all have had the same problem with the product and customer service. Buyer Beware.
Woot Woot! Got one today and one last week. My lil Bride's Christmas present!!

Yes, the refurbs have an exceptionally short warranty. But I have one of each...so well....you know.
