Well, the Roomba was awesome, I used it every few days, it even sucked up some cat crap occasionally. Once it puked out and I called support and they sent me a cartridge to plug in to the serial port and upgrade the Roomba's OS, which solved the problem at the time. In all, I had to contact support 3 times on mine, and each time they were very helpful except the last time which is after my Roomba died and it was a couple of months out of warranty. I had only paid $50 for it on clearance at Home Depot and they wanted to send me a new refurbed one for $100. I said screw it. But while it lasted it did do a lot of sucking, er I mean, cleaning. It also broke down a couple times but each time support was great and got it back up and running until the warranty had expired. Even though I am stuck with a useless dead red Roomba I would still recommend as it was really great while it worked. Just make sure the warranty is good and solid if you're going to put it into hardcore duty like I did mine.

What is the support phone number??

Get two... scatter some random things about in a big room... start them from opposite sides of the room...

Have your own personal Katamari Multi-Player Real Life Battle. See which one picks up the most stuff.

My first one (bought new) made it 18 months before a sensor failure. The one I bought from WOOT! made a litter over a month before complete failure. The review above points out that it is common for them to break within 21 days. I will NEVER by another Roomba. The do not handle dust very well, clogs the sensors. Pet hair is even worse on them. Oh, and yes, I cleaned them weekly, even blew it out with air every 4 weeks.

Mine had a sensor failure about four months after I got it, but I found instructions on the roombareview.com forum on how to do surgery and fix it. It wasn't that hard. There are also several repair places to send them in to.

I agree, though, you _do_ need to take very good care of them, and clean them obsessively. But they are _so_ worth it.

Oh, I also have a Dyson The Ball All Floors, and Dyson Root, which I love, but the Roombas do the majority of the work without any input/effort from me apart from their Sunday intensive cleaning. I have fresh vacuumed floors every day, which wasn't happening with the Dyson because it doesn't plug itself in and go.

I have this model. It is great ... BUT you have to clear all rooms of things that are on the floor, including extension cords, phone cords, papers, clothes, throw rugs, cats (they usually get out of the way by themselves), low-hanging bed linens - everyting. They go under furniture most of the time, but if the clearance is just wrong, they get stuck. The stair avoidance feature does not always work with carpeted stairs. They don't handle transitions between different heights of carpet, bare floor to rugs, etc.

But if you're willing to make the adjustments to accommodate the Roomba, it does it's job while you're at work and puts itself back on the charger when it's done. Of course you have to clean it out every week, but that's less trouble than doing vacuuming yourself.

Try these:

I have not needed to call them so I don't know if these numbers will work for you but they should.

I loved mine....for a time. It's had a few nervous breakdowns, just spinning in circles, where the manufacturer seemed to know exactly what I was describing and would send out a new chip (I'd install) that would correct it.
The thing that you need to know about Roomba though, is that it reccomends you clean it out after every use. I have three dogs, a cat, and live in the country. One Roomba session (hours!) will fill the cup entirely (about the size of a small flashlight) and what's more, each section of brushes and squeegee thingees has to be taken out, cleaned, and put back in. It occurred to me that I was spending a good 10 minutes, at least, cleaning the thing every time! I could deep clean with a regular vac in that time.......so I have mixed feelings about mine. It's rarely , if ever, used anymore here.

I've got two Roombas an one Scooba. They're really great. They do not actually *replace* your vacuum cleaner and mop, but they do give your floors a good cleaning without your personal supervision.

The nature of these machines is that you develop a habit of not leaving bits of junk on the floors, which gradually trains the owner to adopt neater habits. I think this is part of the hidden Robotic Takeover Strategy: Train humans to obey robotic commands.

The Roomba has a perverse habit of eating lost socks under the bed, and then getting stuck. I wish it would just indulge its habit out in the open.

Buyer Beware.

Noted, but woot is selling the remanufactured model, which has all new parts.

Refurbed models still contain mostly used parts and are only fixed to the point where the problem originated.

Big difference.

The refurb (rox0rz!) I got looked new. No dirt or anything...very clean...battery just fine. But packaging did state refurb (rox0rz!).
Correction - It stated Remanufactured.

While I havnt had any problems with it leaving marks it does like to slam itself into the walls at full speed. The newer 500 series has fixed this and slows down before hitting a wall and just taps it. But I have yet to see a 500 series on Woot.

Someone suggest me something... I bought the Buy.com deal for Discovery for $149.99 last week and it's on it's way...should I buy the woot deal and cancel from Buy.com? How do I cancel my order with Buy.com when it's already shipped?

If I don't want to use the Scheduler feature, is it worth for me to buy the Scheduler Roomba vs. the Discover that I already bought?

There is no difference other then color between discovery and scheduler that I know of. If you buy here from woot, you may end up with a discovery still, as it can be set to times as well.

Dont know what to tell you about cancel after shipping. Refuse the shipment?

Thanks, so they are the same roomba's and the scheduler isn't any better except for the scheduler feature... Buy.com can be hell to cancel with, so I guess I will swallow the extra $50 and keep the Discovery. Atleast it's brand new... Besides I get the 1 year warranty with mine vs. the woot one which is 90 days.

Ok, woot, I finally bought a Roomba. Used my Jabra coupon, saving ten bucks. I don't know how this will work in my house, (two dogs, one fifteen year old, one single dad, nobody motivated to clean much), but I am willing to find out. Persian carpets with tassels might have to be folded under, etc. I have a good Bissel suck em up machine, but a Roomba might be nice to keep the fur balls from accumulating in the kitchen and under the beds. Worth the $95 bucks, I guess. At least there will be entertainment value in it, too. When does Woot go public so I can make money on these woots?

I would say no. But, then again as I said earlier, I gave one to my sister and she refuses to take it out of the trunk of her car. So...I guess she was not happy in the slightest. She is also in no way interested in techi stuffs. Is your wife in any way interested in robotics or techi stuff? I appreciate any help I can get with cleaning that's for sure and I have been completely fascinated with the robotic vac movement/logic.

Hope this isn't some nefarious plot to takeover humankind.

By the way, just what are the dimensions of these things? They look like the size of a cd player or a small frisbee.

In fact, the first time I saw a picture of one of these, I thought it was a fancy cd player.
