I'm heavily considering getting these for my kid brother who's obsessed with blaring his Rap music early in the morning...I'm looking for recommendations as to audio cable extensions, or even better yet a unit that makes wired headphones wireless..bluetooth 'esqu type of deal..

I also picked these up in the VIP sale and have been very impressed with them. They don't stack up with my NC headset I use when I'm flying (not as a passenger), but they shouldn't for the price difference.

Quick search brought up these options (I'm sure there's cheaper elsewhere)...

Cable extender (12 feet long enough?)

WAYYY too expensive, but I bet this is the general idea of what you want. Maybe Froogle the Jensen JW120 Wireless Belt Pack, or the Recoton W200.

If you want the ultimate in cheap, pick up a tiny FM radio to put in your shirt pocket and whatever FM transmitter works best for you and your budget. Now I'll shut up so others can do a better job answering.

I got these on the VIP deal. Brought them to work and gave them to my co worker who uses the Bose NC headphones. I asked him to compare side by side with some asst music. He compared bass, NC feature, etc. He was very impressed.

Then I told him the price. He was blown away.

They work perfect for me when the office gets to noisy.

That's true - but by limiting the time it is good for, it seems like a pressured sales tactic. So, just hoping I could still use it on the same product now!

It was a limited time offer, like any other sale. Sometimes you finally decide that you want the item, and by then the sale's over. Next time, you'll think quicker.

How strange. I also have both. My QC2's are falling apart after just a year.
Both are exactly equal in background noise reduction.
The Jabra's have a much sturdier build quality.
As far as SQ, some people may prefer Bose because it has exaggerated base...way exaggerated. Even the Jabra is not flat on the low end but no where near as distorted as Bose. Overall, I prefer the SQ of the Jabra because they produce a much more accurate SF over the Bose.

I was just about to buy a pair on Amazon the other night for $179(free shipping) as this looked like a good price given the comparison reviews. I was just about to submit the order when I saw an email pop up from woot for exactly the same thing at a fraction of the price. Several things went through my mind. First was is Amazon and Woot tied together some how and did Woot know I was browsing those headphones. Second was what was the catch given the price difference.

I got the VIP offer two weeks ago though I had joined woot only a week before that, and wooted for just one item.Perhaps they sent the VIP offer to newer members only (?). Still have not received the headphones though.

Soooo... Not so great as noise canceling headphones when plugged into a computer. They are picking up some sort of feedback signal.

You also have to get used the sound getting louder when you turn the noise canceling on.

This has to do with effects and feedback within your computer. Most likely you have an on-board sound card which is picking up electrical noise and posting it to your audio out line. This would be why you don't hear it when you plug it into your MP3 player. Try a Soundblaster serious PCI card, that should solve your issues. It's not the headphone's fault.

YES!! I ordered something on October 15th that has yet to arrive. I have sent 6 emails. after the third they told me they never sent it (after 4 weeks) and said they would resend. It has been another 3 week and nothing. I have sent another 3 email to them.

Woot, is it normal to have to send over 6 email before you respond? I am still wondering why you never sent my product and why you haven't refunded my money? It's been 6 weeks! Actually, it's weird because they normally have good customer service. I have ordered tons of stuff from woot and never had a problem. Then, they take my money, don't ship my item and don't respond to my emails. I know my email gets to them because I sent them a email regarding a different item i ordered and they responded within 12 hours. It's like they are completely ignoring this one order of mine. I am really frustrated!

Actually, Active Noise Reduction works by having a tiny microphone listen to what the sounds are "AT" your ear. They then produce a sound that is 180 degrees out of phase, which will in effect cancel out the noise. Normally these are tuned to the lower regions of the sound spectrum, where airplane noise, general room hum, etc reside., also with a longer wave it is easier to actively cancel since the wave form is more stable. It has nothing to do with "continuous noise" only what frequency the noise is at, and what frequencies the device is designed to filter. Passive noise reduction is what the better (not the best) headset have. You can notice those by the vents on the BACKSIDE of the microphone, which make them more directional.

I own this product. Prior to owning, I used my parents Bose Headphones on a regular basis (Quiet Comfort 3s) for trips. Here's some comparisons.

Bose: Slightly crisper sound. Go over the ear rather than around it. Case is slightly smaller, carrying strap. Rechargable battery (which costs $150 to replace if you lose it). More expensive. CANNOT use without a battery charge. Cannot charge batter without an outlet.

Jabras: Louder sound. Better at cancelling voices out. Around the ear vs. on top of it. Case is larger, no strap. Sturdy case with semi-hard edges is nice for protecting your gear - it has room in the case for an Ipod or other small MP3 player (will not fit my Archos 605). These also fold flat and are also not wireless. Comes with cord, airplane adapter, mini-jack and stereo jack. AAA battery which gets 50 hours of use. CAN STILL USE without battery. Can replace battery without being near an AC adapter.

For me, the headphones will probably be better on a plane because I was having trouble with the Bose QC3's hearing video - too quiet - with the plane noise. And they were $60 instead of $350! So if I lose them or break them, I won't cry! And I like that I can use without noise cancelling or carry a spare battery.

For me, these I think will work better and for much less. They are comfortable. Just recently purchased on Buy.com so I can't say as to their long term durability. But so far, so good!

Great Side by side. I got three of these on the VIP sale (though only two arrived). I was also impressed. Not so much with voices but with ambient noise reduction. See the microphone on each ear detects incoming noise and plays you the inverse to cancel out your eardrum movement. But there is a slight delay with electronic things so canceling out TV and voice noise that is random is less effective. But ambient noise that stays at the same frequency disappears completely. Dishwasher, furnace, COMPUTER FANS, airplanes, etc. It does have more dramatic effect also on rooms with lots of people as the "total average noise" is more effectively inverted then individual voices
