To anybody that already has this unit:

They mention "FM Tuner" does that mean only FM but NOT > Stereo?

Thats a big difference, especially on the recording side.

Just wunderin...

Thanks - I got all twitchy and worried that I wouldn't get in on this deal and just decided to make my wife purchase her own thru her own account and just fork up the dollars on shipping. They don't make it easy to cancel or to purchase another one.

Really? I got the 250R as well, and I couldn't be happier. The built-in channels saved the player from instant Rockboxing. The only thing I'm unhappy with is its radio reception.

The Sansa that I bought in October was shipped Smartpost which took a couple (2-3) weeks. I've heard that this time they've opted not to ship smartpost so you should (hopefully) get this in plenty of time for Hanukwanzmas...

Eyewerks on the I AM NOT AN ESKIMO! stated about his disappointment with his purchase. I feel worse about buying this piece of crap. I got it for myself as a birthday present. I used it for MAYBE ten hours, and in those ten hours I have had to pull the back off 3 times to pull the battery out and put it back in. It will just go dead all of a sudden and won't turn on until it is reset by taking out the battery. I warn don't buy this crap. Woot also hasn't returned my email about this issue. I really don't think I want to buy anything from woot anymore, all they sell is the same old crap anyway.

Check out Amazon for reasonably priced accessories for the Sansa e200 line. After Wooting the e250 awhile back, I have gotten an acryllic case, car and wall chargers, and a second (in case I lose the one that came with) USB connector from Amazon.

Damn you Woot, I JUST bought two of the 1 gig Sansas last week. Oh well, looks like both of those will be going out as gifts now (to my brother and dad, they aren't picky about packaging) and I'll be keeping this one...

compared to the 30G Zune I bought a few weeks ago this doesn't seem like a very good deal? Lovin the Zune by the way. Much better software than the Ipod gig.

I bought the 2GB version a while ago on woot. The device irrevocably crashed when I tried to put a movie file onto the player. Tech Support said it was because the movie file was longer than 10 minutes (nowhere in the manual was this mentioned.) According to them, the problem wasn't theirs, but rather the company to which they'd decided to outsource their media conversion software.

Had to pry into the box and reinstall the firmware, losing everything. I don't dare put on another video. Rude service, substandard product, incredibly cheap price. That's what you'll get.

The Zune is a HDD based, paperback-sized media player. This is a small, flash-based, slim-form mp3 player. You're comparing apples to oranges; the only thing they have in common is audio playback.

No sweat on the REFURBISHED lettering. It will peel off cleanly - use the tip of an Xacto knife or similar tool to carefully lift the letters off - don't scrape. Wear safety glasses in case you snap the tip of the blade. GooGone or similar stuff will remove any adhesive that remains.

Yeah, she's doing it wrong. This thing plays MP3's and WMA's without a problem. It's an MP3 player. It would take a lot of balls for it NOT to play MP3's, yeah? This is a solid device and for my money, blows an ipod out of the water, ESPECIALLY if you put Rockbox firmware on it.

No I think he's comparing microsofts to oranges, apple makes the ipod 8)

I don't really need to say this, but I like the attention. The stock buds on this are AWFUL, they made my ears bleed gravy.

And don't worry, even if woot ships you a rhapsody model on accident (They did that to me) you can still load rockbox on it, it just takes a few extra hoops.

Does anyone know how good the voice recorder is? I'm going to be out of the country for a month, and would like to play some guitar and sing to it, or record myself playing and play over it... would it be able to pick it up? I'm not looking for too terribly good quality here...

Also, what's the chances of it arriving before friday after next? I plan on leaving by then... it may be a close call...

Hey fellas. This is my first time purchasing a refurbished item and I understand it may not come with a box or anything which doesnt really matter for me. But for those who previously purchased refurbed things from woot, or anywhere else. How is the exterior condition? for example are there sometimes scratches/scuffs like regular wear showing? or does it come looking absolutely flawless and shiny?

Here's the glasses, and if 67 cents a pair is too rich for you, they have an economy model.

It has "refurb (rox0rz!)" in embossed lettering. Just tell the person you're giving it to that that's the name of the guy who assembled it.

yes--mine does. Pause, the then turn it off. Keeps my place everytime. I love it for audio books.

I got an e260 for my wife in a previous Woot (paid $10 more too - poop).
Here's what I got:
- It has " R E F U R B " in raised letters on the back
- It came with a CD, some buds (never use 'em so don't know anything about them), and a data cable.
- It did NOT come with a sleeve

Other than the scroll wheel feeling a bit 'loose' (sometimes it's hard to select the menu we want) I loved it SO MUCH I WOOTed an e250 (2G) for myself (again - poop, I shoulda waited).

Mine came the same as hers but the scroll wheel feels much more solid. I installed RocKBox on mine and LOVE it. (Turns out, SanDisk actually requested the RockBox team to create a RockBox for the eXXX and cXXX lines - even provided sample hardware, VERY COOL!). With RockBox the battery life is a shorter but I can play more audio types as well as MPEG 1 & 2s. I've got about 10 hours of of shows ripped from DVD on my *2G* player as we speak!

I use the following commands for a 2 pass compression:
C:\Progra~1\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe -threads 2 -i c:\MyShow.avi -r 16 -mbd rd -flags +trell -cmp 2 -subcmp 2 -g 100 -acodec libmp3lame -ab 128 -ar 44100 -vcodec mpeg2video -s 224x128 -b 150kb -strict -1 -passlogfile c:\MyShow.avi.log -y -pass 1 "NUL.avi"
C:\Progra~1\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe -threads 2 -i c:\MyShow.avi -r 16 -mbd rd -flags +trell -cmp 2 -subcmp 2 -g 100 -acodec libmp3lame -ab 128 -ar 44100 -vcodec mpeg2video -s 224x128 -b 150kb -strict -1 -passlogfile c:\MyShow.avi.log -y -pass 2 C:\MyShow.avi.mpg

I'd suggest getting a sleeve/screen cover for it. Wore it while raking leaves & scratched it up a bit.

Well, these are apparently going out Fedex ground, which is a great deal faster than Smartpost. Provided Woot ships them out whithin the next few days, I'd say you'd have it in plenty of time.

My first was shiny new looking, 2nd had a few minor scratches & a speck UNDER the glass. If I shake it the speck moves out of the display area, I just repeat the shake if it comes back.

I would buy again for myself or gift for somebody who 'gets' this sort of thing.
