Huh...one thing on my mind before I hit the sack: how old are the w00t writers that they know obscure Led Zeppelin lyrics that today's current crop of college students should have never heard? For example, a SMALL sample:

Working from seven to eleven every night,
It really makes life a drag, I don't think that's right.
I've really, really been the best of fools, I did what I could.
'Cause I love you, baby, How I love you, darling, How I love you, baby,
How I love you, girl, little girl.
But baby, Since I've Been Loving You. I'm about to lose my worried mind, oh, yeah.

Everybody trying to tell me that you didn't mean me no good.
I've been trying, Lord, let me tell you, Let me tell you I really did the best I could.
I've been working from seven to eleven every night, I said It kinda makes my life a drag.
Lord, that ain't right...
Since I've Been Loving You, I'm about to lose my worried mind.

Said I've been crying, my tears they fell like rain,
Don't you hear, Don't you hear them falling,
Don't you hear, Don't you hear them falling.

Here's the thing: If you want a $500 system, buy one. Chances are if you're buying American or Japanese, you're paying for a $200 system, anyway. I'm pretty sick of self-appointed audiophiles and roadies bashing every system but their own. Often it's a nice safe place to hide the fact that they don't know what they're talking about. Because every pimply-faced kid with a car wants bass and "power" to annoy people with, the marketers have robbed wattage of any meaning whatsoever. That's not woot's fault. So this is not a system you can impress girls with, or use for a concert. A Volkswagen is also not a race car. For your cheap DVD player or gaming system, this is adequate and a good deal for the price. It worked out of the box and saved me having to route new cable from my main system.

Well, my user name on this account is short hand for a song that's even older than yours, and I was in college when it was released. I guess that makes me ancient, or possibly it's a quirky MIchigan trait.

Well, I doubt if being a Rolling Stones fan is just a quirky Michigan trait, but since I'm a fan and I live in Michigan, too, maybe it IS!???

It depends on your remote. What is the brand and exact model of your remote?

Has anyone had their system change to shipped yet in their account summary page? I have not. I can't wait to get this thing hooked up to my xbox 360!

Neither this nor my Dyson show up as shipped on the summary page, but I received emails with Fedex info for both. They were out for delivery yesterday, but show a "delivery exception - no attempt made", which is, I think, shorthand for "we were too busy yesterday to get to your house". Rescheduled for today, fingers crossed. I really need the Dyson, but I'll probably play with the RCA when it gets here. Rock and roll first, vacuum later.

Speak of (and have sympathy for) the devil. They just arrived at my back door. I really need to finish shopping and shovel some snow, but unopened boxes are so tempting - even the Dyson.

Received mine a couple days ago and with a little tweaking, I've got it to work rather well in my bedroom.

They arrived 4 days after I wooted them. Quick setup, easy to use, decent volume (depending on what the source is). Thumbs up on this product for 85$.

I recieved mine very quick but only to find out that the SUB WAS BLOWN! Definitely destroyed my confidence with RCA and almost WOOT. I know it was refurbished and all but COME ON! Luckily I by lots of car audio/stereo equipment and I had an extra 6.5" sub laying around and I cut the box open and plopped in the replacement. The speakers that came with it are too bright with obviously zero bass. But for 85 dollars I was not expecting miracles. I hooked some extra speakers up and sounds much better. Id say the receiver was worth the 85 dollars alone.

I bought this, received it today... hopefully returning it tomorrow.

Terrible, has been nothing but problems. both RCA inputs do not work, sub does not work, 2 other speakers have shorts in them. optical is so laggy, I can not run any other sound from another source at the same time.

To all to downtalk this inexpensive system..

I bought this for a friend who is too cheap to buy himself any sort of surround system for his 52" plasma, in this case something (POS RCA) is better than nothing.

I just hooked it up today, but after about 10 minutes the head unit just powers off. It's making me so f-ing mad that I want to throw it away. refurb (rox0rz!) actually means, broke. Bummed.

If your order appears to be broken, make sure you check out the manual and/or do some Googling first. If nothing helpful turns up there, we generally recommend getting in touch with the manufacturer. However, if they cannot or will not assist you, you can initiate a return by contacting rma@woot.com. A refund may be the only option, as we may not have any replacements in stock.

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

Not sure of whom I am more disappointed with, WOOT for selling it or RCA for making it. Buyer beware and you get what you pay for are strong words of advice. I should be able to get my money back. Why you ask? Fraud. 1000 watts is completely inaccurate. What you get is, what sounds like 5 crappy ten-watt car speakers. And one home-made subwoofer. The remote I received was cracked in half. You cannot work some of the units crappy features without it. Yes, the turd was a polished refurb (rox0rz!). Shame on you RCA and WOOT.

Once again, as seems to be a regular happenstance, I still have not recieved mine. According to the link it was supposed to be " in home "by 12/27, as of today it has gone back to MD with an expected delivery date of 12/31. I apologize for recommending this item earlier; I am totally dissapointed with Woots! shipping, wish I could say a yay or nay on the actual recieved product.

Still waiting for shipping info on woot.sellout items ordered 12/11 and 12/26. My order from 11//27 was refunded after no activity on the shipping end.

As a "black box" customer, after spending well over 2Gs here: WOOT! get your %^&* together!!!!! You sent me a duplicate $700 item, which I reported and then took a day off work to return by RMA, and didnt even get a decent thanks. I'm sure someone enjoyed that in their latest BO.C. (which I was denied even though i got my order in 12/25 within 20 sec. of offering...waiting list my butt).

Sorry all for the sour grapes, but I am so unhappy with my latest experiences here. The e-mail to service dept response seems to take forever, so I am venting publicly as Woot claims to want in their FAQ section.

have a great New Years,

VG

I contacted the Refurbish POC regarding the 30 day warranty. I just wanted to replace the remote, in order to try getting the "turd" to work. They gave me an RMA number, even e-mailed the RMA form and told me to wait for the replacement, as instructed on the phone and e-mail. I waited and waited and waited and waited, I called and I called and I called some more. I left messages, which by the way is the only way. 30 DAYS LATER, THEY CALLED!! The "Turd" has a "Turd Warranty"! So I figured, purchase a BRAND-new one and returned the "Turd"!!!!! Guess what, I've got a brand new "Turd"!!!! But is it really worth $85, maybe, but without the remote-it is worth NOTHING it just a "Turd"! Keep that in mind folks, No remote equals No configuring. No Radio, No Equalizer, No surround sound configuring. It's pushing a whopping 175 watts, mathematically calculated NOT 1000 watts. Do I still WOOT? Of course I still WOOT, but Nope, aint buying no more, or at least electronic refurbs. as a matter of fact, I look and go to the stores, where I know that I can recoop from the branding. TAKE that RCA for a fine "Turd".

Note to myself in the future.

If you or any of your fellow Wooters read this note associated with this refurb (rox0rz!) RCA 1000<hah> Watt Surround System - remember, PLEASE remember, don't be vacuumed in. 39 days into the 30 day warranty the head unit powers off, thus rendering this unit into a big pile of steaming poo.

Woot did give me an RMA number but it is going to cost me 27.80$ to ship it back. I might just keep it for the speakers - coincidentally I found a working SONY receiver at the friggin' DUMP that I hooked up yesterday and it works fine. WTH!

So remember self, don't by refurb (rox0rz!) RCA again.

Doubt anyone will read this at this point, but I've started having problems with mine. Guess that's better luck than some people, because I was really happy up until this point. Now, randomly, the receiver will switch to headphone input for anywhere from 1 - 10 seconds at a time, then switch itself back. No rhyme or reason about when or how long, it just happens. Often it happens during a key scene in a show or movie which is a bummer because you miss what is being said.

Still for the price it has more than satisfied me, just wish I could find a way to fix this little annoyance.
