I got this the last time it was out and its an excellent player. I feel sorry for the people who had problems with it as it's a wonderful player outside from its minor problems.

It is very difficult to create playlists, so I googled and found this:

I had one of these.. meh. It was ok... sounded fine, but I opted for the functionality of an ipod. Well, that, and I'm a fanboy

I got the 6GB from Woot last fall. It worked great & then just died. I contacted Woot and they sent me a RMA link to send it back. A few weeks later, I got a refund.

196 Woots, 20 shirt.woots, 15 sellout.woots, 212 total items, and I STILL have not gotten a single Bindle of Carrots! How is that possible?

Thanks. You would think that the owner's manual would state the capacity of the player's microSD slot.

6GB player is still great.

I had purchased the 1GB sansas back of the beginning of December. Liked thier small size, how long the battery lasted and how well they sounded compared to what iPods do for 10 times the cost. Now these come up. Purchased 2 and can't wait to see how well these compare to the 1GB. Being able to push video thru it is a big bonus, and still 70% less cost than the iPod nano I bought for $130 last year. I just hope both work.

I have the e240, 2GB. It is outstanding, easy to use, easy to load with pics, music, videos and the sound is like listening to a giant stero systems. It pics up great FM radio and you can recored voice or FM radio with the touch of a button. This is a great price for such a high quality media player. I just bought the 4GB model, so I have 2, just in case I need two on a trip or on a plane for a friend. You can't have too much quality.

Linux sees it as a usb storage device (2 if the microSD card is installed). Drag and drop works great, and you can also make playlists and transfer files using amarok.

No problem. But you should be able to install rockbox and get full use of your 4GB cards.

These work really well. I bought two one for each kid and they love them. Using them everyday to tune me out. Ha ha Just kidding. Daughter put over 200 songs on hers and I told her 790 some to go then we can get that expansion mini sd to put more on.

Wierd thing is, even after i cleared off all the useless stuff that was on there it still only shows 900 Mb of free memory and says over 1 GB is used.. Any thoughts? I realize it needs some memory for operation but a full gig seems excessive

You have the Rhapsody version. You need to clear off the included play lists, or 'Channels' as they are called. Once you start clearing those out, your memory should clear up.

Totally awesome player. I have this one from the last sale, and have two 2GB models that I have given to my wife and mother in law. Photos and videos are cool to use, and it works with PodCasts an lots of other music and image/video formats! I put a whole group of photos of our newborn on our mother in law's, and she totally grooved out on it!

Save the files to your computer (if you want to have them for backup), and you should be just fine to delete them and free up the space.

Also don't forget about the memory card slot....You can buy more space there as well.

I bought this less than a month ago and it works great. It fell out of my coat pocket when I had the earphones in and the earjack stayed in the unit and the earphones stayed in my ears. So even though it hurt my ears, it didn't fall on the concrete. Although I think putting the 8GB player up for the same price about a week ago was kind of a low blow to us loyal Wooters.

I understand that Rockbox offers a very complicated bookmark system, but all I need is for my mp3 player to be able to start mid-file at the very last spot I was listening to of the last file I was playing. Will I have to install Rockbox for that or will the Sandisk firmware be ok for me? I tried reading the Sansa E200 series user's guide and it didn't say anything about this one way or another.
Thanks!

Holy MP3 player batman! How many did they have to sell? Over 4700 and the button wasn't bouncing? Did they knock over a semi load or two?
Plus 9k from December! Yikes! Maybe they are breeding like bunnies.

got the sansa e140 2 years ago, and used it like crazy, about 8 hours a day, everyday! worked great, one of the best things I've got, until 2 days ago, it just gave up! this is good timing, hope to get it in the mail soon, last time they lost my Sansa e250 2GB somewhere in Los Angeles, about 6 weeks ago (I'm sure there is a happy FEDEX guy in the world!). never considered getting something else, it's a great choice!

if you mean when you turn it off and then back on again, it does keep the spot of the last file you were playing and resumes playback. just make sure you dont click stop and turn it off--just pause the file being played before turning off the sansa (of course). it does this with both the original firmware and rockbox.
