Oscars are doing a summary of the best picture entries, and what music do they put behind it?

The Dragonheart soundtrack theme. Gorgeous.

You could almost figure out how old I am by the movies I saw in the theaters on their first run!
11th grade to pregnancy, I saw them all. After that, only about 3.

Poor musicians , under the stage, yet they still had to get dressed up!
I guess they are using the pit as part of the stage.
Under, that must not be good.
Then again, as a musician, any job is a good job!

Really young? The Mouseketeers, with Spin and Marty and Annette.
Later? The man from UNCLE, the Partridge Family, etc.

I've heard someone mention Dark Shadows before, but have no idea what it is about. I've at least heard of these shows, but I'm not sure that I have watched any of them except for maybe the adams family

It was a soap opera on after school. Set in the past and the present, with a vampire as the main character.
All the rage in high school.
The three stooges were on in the afternoon when I was very young
I remember telling the doctor once that I had to recover because the Adams Family was on that night.
Everyone who was in 5 grade when the Man From U.N.C.L.E. was on lived and died for that show, girl and boy alike.
I was in middle school with the Monkeys. That was a girl thing. Boys wouldn't admit to watching it under any circumstances. When they put it on again when my kids were young, and we took them to the concert...somehow friends who were older and guys, wanted to go!
So they wouldn't admit it, but guys were watching!

The Beatles too. No boy would admit to liking the Beatles when they first showed up.

Spy show. Around 1965.
I got the set for Christmas...but didn't watch it yet.
What I read was somehow it got bought by some company that totally mishandled the show and it never went into reruns. The person who wrote what I read thought that it could have been bigger than Star Trek if it was handled right.

OH! Star Trek!!!! My mom was really annoyed that dad and I always watched it. She asked my cousins husband about it. He was working for NASA. She somehow figured he would think it was stupid. Well.....HA! He said EVERYONE from NASA watched it every week!!!

Star Trek was it for me.
and Rat Patrol.
Time Tunnel was pretty cool.
I remember watching Dark Shadows every day too.

when I was a kid, if you knew music, you liked the Beatles, and the Beach Boys, and the Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin. Aerosmith was kind of lame then, though looking back, I like them a lot more than I did then.

I watched the man from U.N.C.L.E., but it wasn't that great, not nearly as cool as Star Trek. They were on Space Ships! and had aliens! and they always won! and they had Ray Guns! and instantaneous transporters! It was just awesome.

But UNCLE had Illya Kuryakin!
You were too young. And a guy. I'm guessing Illya Kuryakin wouldn't hold the same power for you!

I have a suspicion hat he actually placed second, not third. My suspicion is that the first place car was probably ineligible and unofficial- the father probably made it complete for his son, who is rather, um, somewhat autistic in his personality, though not quite. I really don't see how he could have made the car that he was supposed to have made. John actually got a second place ribbon. I emailed his den leader that John got the wrong ribbon, so they may tell me what the actual deal is tomorrow. When he got his car back at the end, everyone who might have explained why his ribbon was wrong was gone.

Those are some very talented kids!

I think I watched every game show on the planet.
Star Trek (TOS, TNG as a family)
Knight Rider
Air Wolf
Quantum Leap
Doogie Howser MD
21 Jump Street
Whatever cartoon was on
Macgyver
Highlander (as a teen)

Mostly we watched a bunch of stuff with my Mom. Both of my parents are closet Sci-Fi geeks, although my Dad was really into westerns as a boy.

Yeah! Some shows from my generation! I also want to add:

Brady Bunch
Giligans Island (these two might've been in re-runs, but we loved 'em)
The Greatest American Hero (I was grounded the night this premiered, so I could only listen to it from my bedroom - was before we had a VCR, so I was really upset that I missed the very first episode)
A-Team
The Cosby Show
Family Ties
General Hospital
One Life to Live

Oh, and remember when there were GAME SHOWS on all day.

The Price is Right
That "no whammy, no whammy" one
The Pyramid one
Match Game
Hollywood Squares
Pictionary
Family Fued
Let's Make a Deal

Ahhh... the good old days.

Oh, and good morning

Morning 'selli, all!

people actually watch soap operas?

That game show was called Press your luck.

The game show network is great for those kind of shows. I love Match Game.

Brett Somers and Charles Nelson Reilly were great. Richard Dawson wasn't so bad either.

Brett Somers is still alive! I thought she was older then!

Used to watch soap operas - it was on when I got home from school - if I walked/ran really fast I would only miss the first few minutes of GH. I also remember when Bon Jovi's video for "Livin' on a prayer" was #1 on the MTV Video countdown show for weeks on end. I watched it everyday when I got home. Mmmm. Jon Bon Jovi.

We don't get the game show network - wish I did...

HA! I just borrowed the Muppet Show Season 1 from the library, and one of my daughters watched it with me but remained perfectly silent and still, and only afterwards did she say anything, and it was "Dad, that kind of freaked me out!"

I thought she was diggin' it, but I was scarring her emotions!
