Re: Leaper's Creed

Andy, I think your design is suffering from a plague of frogs. Take a look at how many frogs are in this derby- my rejected design had, I think, sixteen in it alone.

To get a lot of votes, for this theme, your frog is going to have to be one hell of a terrific frog. It is a good one, don't get me wrong, but the whole cartoony look just doesn't stand out from the others. I don't think that the stuff you put around it particularly adds a lot, though the halftone dots are quite good, and certainly big enough that woot can print them.

Fortunately for no1, the plague of locusts hasn't arrived yet to gobble down his corn. They are coming, though, I can sense it.

1582 was the first leap year as instituted by Pope Pius where he corrected the callendar by 11 days... He then instituted the modern leap year formula whereby a day is added every 4 years... There is an exception to the four year formula which is due to the fact that 365.25 is not exactly accurate; you will notice that 1700, 1800, & 1900 are absent from the list and that is because centuries are not leap years unless they are divisible by 400... Hence 1600 and 2000 being included... And that's how the modern leap year was born... Good question!

Re: Giraffe Leap Years Calendar

I think you did a great design that allows the shirt to be worn more than just this year. Good thinking about making it a usable calendar shirt.

I think you are going to gather lots of votes when people realize that the cute pandas are no longer in the fog. You have the same cuteness factor. (I think Darth's frog is really cute too....so there's still some competition for the cute vote.)

Good luck! Love the design.

Its been circulated around this forum xeveral times already. If no one posted a comment in the htreads about it, it was because they did the polite thing and simply tattled on it, rather then drag it across the forums for thier own self serving pleasure.

Thank you KLS. It means a lot coming from you! You have so many great designs.

I was sad to see the pandas go though! I had given them my vote.

I thought about that also...I would much rather have a plate of bacon than a leap day/year but at least this way if I eat all of the bacon nobody will blame me.

The rejection notice makes it look like you have a chance for it to come up for sale later.

This shirt is obviously for intelligent people...

Ho! Is that meant as an insult to people who just don't like the shirt or don't see how it fits leap year just by looking at the shirt without an explanation?

A play on a popular eastern state slogan, if you will. Earth tones on a brown woot tee for your wearing pleasure! Now with 33% more eyes-rolling-back goodness.

Re: February 29th is for Leapers (super dub remix)

Sorry everyone who voted already (please revote!) but I noticed a glaring omission from the text.

A play on words if you will, perhaps residents of a certain eastern state will recognize and get at least a chuckle. Earth tones on a brown woot tee for you! Thanks for looking again.

Re: Optical Illusion of Leap Year

It's somewhat clever, sure, but I think that is the single, most unattractive way this could have been portrayed on a tshirt. The colours aren't great and the design itself is simple, boring block letters with arrows. Not something I would ever consider wearing.

msj11 wrote:Disco - most everyone like myself that pushed for the reject still thinks it is a great shirt - I hope it gets printed - this is probably the best designs the Woot gods have ever had to reject!

I suspect they will want to print it as a daily because it is clearly superior to some of the more recent offerings (as demonstrated by the day of reckoning chart).

I agree 100%. I hope that 'email me' in the rejection note means a daily is coming. It will sell out very quickly.

Hey - it was a good design, and subtle, but gettable in the context of the derby. i'll regret it not winning this time around.
