I've had the Easyshare LS743 for nearly 4 years, got it for $99 at Fry's. It's been an excellent camera, my only complaint was it's size. I've enjoyed the extreme life of the Kodak battery and I've enjoyed the wonderful shots it's taken over the years. Here's hoping this new one will fit in the pocket more nicely yet give me all the fun I've had with my old Kodak. Copper to boot!

You still don't get it. OF COURSE Canon is better. Canon costs A LOT more. This, however, is a good camera for the price and for someone who isn't looking for fancy shmancy.
WonderWooter wrote:I am on the fence about this one. I have a 8MP Fuji FinePix and it's supposed to be good, but it's never really taken great pictures for me. I really just wanted a point and click camera, but let my brother pick one out for me, and I think mine is too advance for my ability level. Would this one be any better for me? I am not techno, and I really just want a camera that takes really good pictures, not something to start my own photography studio
I have the 8mp version and it is great, my roomate has the 6.1mp version and umm yeah its great also. Good, easy point and shoot. Shutter speed is not what you would get with some high end cameras but neither is the price. If you are the average person who just wants to take good pictures for the album of say johnnys birthday party or uncle bills liposuction then I would buy this camera. Actualy i am thinking of picking one up just in case.
baaaahhhhhh... canon fan here, sorry woot you have taken too much of my moneys anyway ! ! ! :D
DO I have to take the battery out to charge it, or I can use the USB cable with the camera please answer this a soon as possible

Thats a good plug.
Read reviews from Epinions
I have this camera and I don't recommend it. The picture is never sharp, especially in dark environments
If you buy the best you can afford, you will never be dissapointed.

The camera charges by pluging the wall plug in to it. Either on the bottom or side of camera. my other one is on the side but my roommates plugs into the bottom
sorry double post

Yeah and my kia cant go 110 so i should not have bought that either. This camera is for the average picture taker. And if your pictures were too dark you might want to check the iso/speed setting on it. you might be set for out door picts.

Thanks, I want to get one of for my uncle he broke his i thought it would be nice to get him one.
I see in the picture the back has a speaker, but the one I looked at on another site had a microphone on the front... I don't see it on this one in the picture. Anyone know if this records sound with video and plays it back?
DrOptics wrote:I have this camera and I recommend it. The picture is sharp, especially in dark environments
This has Image Stabilization -- a great feature not usually found at this price point.
That's easy to fix.....take your shots in nice bright environments like I did here. Doesn't get much brighter than this....no? I snapped these fine ladies with my C763. Great Camera!
On further review I see that this comes with the battery charging station so I am not sure if it will charge in the camera also. Will continue to look to see if I can find out.
i have a nikon 5mp, and it works fine. Its terrible once it gets dark outside or in poor lighting, but o well :P i like it i had kodaks before and never liked em.
This one was much better from above. Mar 2, 2008 1:26 AM [2005225] Mavtek wrote:I've had the Easyshare LS743 for nearly 4 years, got it for $99 at Fry's. I have the step up from this camera. I love the pix and use it for work nearly every day. The only problem I've had is that for some reason it drains the batteries when turned off. I take one pic today and if I don't remove the batteries I have to put new ones in tomorrow. Not a good thing. But that is my camera that I'm sure has a specific problem that this one will not have. I'm in for two. One for my kid to play with and one for my wife to use. They use mine from work which may be why it is having problems.
I actually own this camera and absolutely love it. The pictures come out great and the battery life is nice too; it's rechargeable and comes with an ac adapter--what more could you ask for? I had bought one for 107.00 at best buy, but this price is great! I just bought one for my parents. Definitely recommend this camera.
Woot, I expect much better pricing on something like this. I would hope you would blow the most reliable competitive deal out there by at least 20 bucks. That is why you are here right? To make us feel superior for getting the best deals on the planet? (tounge a little bit in cheek;)

You have to take the battery out and plug it into the ac battery charger to charge the battery. I had no luck trying to charge the battery while it was still in the camera.

THAT'S NOT YOUR PHOTO! I've seen that one floating all around the internet for a long time!
Ok on the Kodak site it shows that on the side of the camera it does have the dc plug port so you should be able to charge in the camera. and you have a spare charging in the charge station. (extra battery is like $29)
Well I bought it so I guess I'll see if it can charge in the camera. I need to stop buying stuff I dont need. I'll never get the money to move to Cali if I keep buying off of Woot and Shirt.Woot.
If iI didn't have a camera already, and maybe if it wasn't a refurb (rox0rz!).

Here I am thinking That I can get this one and charge it with my pc or power cable I guess there is no luck, I'm still doing some research if the battery needs to be taken out in order to charge
Can't be worse than my HP Photosmart E317. God, HP su-cks.
I have this camera for about 8 months now and have had no problems whatsoever with it. It has all the features any basic camera user would need. If you need more features, spend more than 100 bucks on a camera... I took it on vacation for about a week, took an average amount of pictures and charged it once just to be on the safe side. I would definitely suggest this camera.
Does this camera use just the battery pack, or can I put eneloop rechargables in it while the battery pack is recharging in it's dock?? Thanks for all the input.
Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? W T F is up with this crap? Woot sold the Kodak 8 megapixel camera NEW several times for 99.99 and you expect to sell this refurbished crap for about 10 bucks cheaper? Count me out!
Thnks Fr Th Mmrs !

Lighten up Francis
Any one knows any good websites to buy stuff such as woot! or similar
my wife bought this item for x-mas for me....charged it up,turned it on,the lens would not open, item gave two codes and shut down. Googled it and found this to be a common problem...also found the same camera for sale at wally world under the Samsung name..this is a maybe at best
Wow, this slowed down fast. I feel bad for w00t! I hope they don't take it personally.
Not a bad deal, not a great one. Kodak gets a bit of a bum rap, but have produced some decent cameras recently, as well as some crappy ones. Last year I had a brief and happy affair with the Kodak C875 and it performed quite well; my biggest complaint was a bit too much jpeg compression. The lens sharpness was probably the best I had seen in a compact P&S up until that time - noticeably better than the Canon A620 I had. Generally speaking, all name brand cameras can perform reasonably well in good lighting. People who complain about chronically blurred pictures either can't figure out how to use the camera most effectively or can't hold it steady. Rarely, that particular camera is defective. This C763 boasts "digital image stabilization', but that's marketing BS. All that means is the camera will automatically boost the ISO in order to increase the shutter speed, but the resulting image will be either noisier or have so much noise reduction applied in-camera that the photo will looks like a watercolor painting. Real image stabilization is either optical in nature (lens shift, like Canon and Panasonic use) or CCD-shift (Casio and Fuji come to mind). Panasonic is the only manufacturer who includes stabilization in every camera.
