Does this include all the attachments shown?

I see it only mentions the mini turbine brush but not the other things?

all DC14's are the same. The only thing that makes them have different "names" is the assortment of attachments included.

go to the dyson website and click on the uprights->dc14 and then compare the differences.

This is the DC Animal. The only difference is in the attachments, specifically the mini turbo. Great for use on hair and the critter what done it......

It's not the Animal, but almost identical. The main difference is the Animal comes with a stain removal kit, whereas this comes with a couple of attachments that Animal doesn't have.

That's correct. I guess nobody else is reading previous comments before posting. The model is the DC14 Total Clean. It's a special model sold only at Sam's Club.

Ah, the Dyson color shuffle. Dyson has a set of colors for their models as shown on their web site. Each retailer can have their own color scheme. The DC07 of recent Woot was a light blue ala Costco. This all silver thing could be assembled from parts swaps for the retailers and assembly by some color blind guy. Doubt the hair orbs will notice the color....

My first woot and it's a Dyson! Maybe it's a clue to what a sad life I lead, or maybe I just rejoice at FINALLY getting the cat hair out of my hall rug, but this is the most excited I have been in ages.

One of our cats is nicknamed the fur Zamboni for the thorough and methodical way in which she coats each and every rug with a thick layer of orange hair. I think she may have finally met her match, however. Also, corner hairballs, your days are numbered.

I can't wait to get that FPOS Electrolux out of my hall closet (anyone want one, it'll be going on FreeCycle soon :p) and replace it with a shiny new Dyson.

How well does this vacuum work on pet hair? We have a large yellow lab and dark green furniture, so we need something that works well.

I bought the DC07 when it was offered a month or so ago and I love it! I'd imagine this would be quite similar to it except it has more tools which is making me very jealous right now.

The Dyson has actually made other people besides myself want to vacuum, so I love it! It really does do a great job. I have two Dalmatians, two long-haired cats, and 5 birds. It does a fantastic job of sucking up every last hair, feather, kitty litter, and seed off the floor and furniture. Also, I find that emptying the container is much easier and cleaner than other bagless vacs I've had.

That said, the only cons (of which there are two) is that I don't care for the quick-release wand. I just take the whole *wand* off and use just the tube and an attachment. Also, I've noticed that if I get carried away and I hit the wall or the leg of a piece of furniture it makes a high pitched whirring sound like something is stuck but it goes away after a few seconds.

I was afraid to buy the Dyson at first because I've heard really bad things about it as well as great things. In the end, I LOVE this and honestly talk about it all the time and actually get excited to vacuum. I've also noticed that my dogs are afraid of this one and always bark at it. That's never happened with other vacuums.

These are washable but take a month from next week to dry. Most get a second, not expensive, and alternate them while play musical washie/dryie. $20 if I remember...

Yes! It matters.

I did not know this until I got a bagless vacuum. Do NOT get a bagless vacuum. Here's why: the bagless vacuums have two filters AFTER the initial cyclone drop area in the canister.

These are normal filters that they do not tell you about exactly. One is the HEPA filter and there is usually another filter before the HEPA filter. So, when you go to empty the dirt, you drop it into the trash basket and PUFF a big cloud of dust arises. AND, you have not cleaned the other two filters yet. Also, that trash basket will go PUFF every time you drop anything else into it because it is full of PUFF dust. So, you clean the vacuum and then you get rid of the trash basket bag. So, you now have a "bag" of dirt which you could have had in the first place with a bag-vacuum.

To clean the other two filters, you have to take it apart somewhat. This is usually not so easy to do. Then, if you have not done this often, the filter is stuck with dirt and it takes a tooth brush and about 20 minutes to get the dirt out of this and the 2nd filter because it is impregnated into the filter because you didn't clean these filters too each time.

Or, you open your BAG vacuum, take out the bag, drop it into the trash and you're done.

I like the bag because it is easy, clean and works and nothing more to do.

Thanks in Advance!

The shop vac is for sucking up bolts and emptying your pool with a HEPA filter suitable for large birds and neighborhood rodents. Minus the bolts and birds the Dyson does a pretty good job. I'm just trying to imagine my wifes tears of joy if I give her my 16 gal shop vac to drag around the house and I'm not doing well..

I bought this item a year ago. . Other than a little less maneuverable than some other styles, it works wonderful. a lot engineering went into this thing. Bag entying is a breeze. Getting to the filter to clean it every 6mos. is just a push button away. I am not as excited about the convenience in using the attachments, however.

READ ME:

the "refurbs" aren't necessarily "refurbs" as in used and returned. This is the Sam's Club Model. Perhaps they no longer carry these or are changing their stock and that's how WOOT got them. Last year I bought one and it was the yellow Costco model and it still taped up brand new. I understand it's the luck of the draw however, some people got obviously used vacuums.

Dysons all work the same regardless of ther name and/or color. Some have a ball and some don't. One is slim. The difference is the attachments. I don't even use my attachments so I could care less what mine is called. If you like playing with attachments find one that has all you want otherwise don't sweat it.

Dyson will not void a carpet warranty. Seriously people, you your brain for just one second. First, I can't even begin to imagine what happens to cause a carpet warranty claim...I guess they happen but I'm stumped. Second, how the heck is a carpet manufacturer going to even know what kind of vacuum you use? Do they have special investigators who analyze the carpet same and proclaim "AH HA! This looks like the work of a Dyson!" and then deny your claim? Peek into your closet looking for the culprit? GET REAL!

Finally, I did some investigating when I bought mine and I can't remember where I got this info but I recall that the original Dyson, the first one sold, was set lower and did sometimes jam on longer carpets. Apparently the carpets in the USA are plusher than most so when Dyson started selling here they modified the design a bit. This is why some people claim their older models work better than the new ones. It was a problem for the vacuum more than for the carpet however.

Also, I believe it has a clutch mechanism which shuts off the beater bar (thus making the horrible noise some have mentioned, (not really that bad IMHO)) where as other vacuums continue to spin on the motor end and will burn through the belt.

Yet another genius change made by DYSON to old tech.

Yeah I have looked very closely at them in the stores. Being an engineer myself I was always impressed with what I saw in the design. A thicker belt and a failsafe as you have outlined makes me feel more at ease. Not that I was all that concerned. I guess if the belt was an issue more peeps would have mentioned it.

I read the blog the last time this vacuum came up, and some people didn't get their shipment at all, and got the run-around instead of a refund. But I don't see any of them posting this time, so maybe they got their satisfaction and felt better...I don't want any problems and I want a new machine, wish luck for me! Ok, so you don't want a bag of "PUFF" dust. yet, when you remove the bag from your vacuume, it puffs some anyway. then you put the bag of dirt into your trash can...and anything you put in after it makes it puff more. the claim to fame for Dyson is "Never Loses Suction" not PUFF FREE DISPOSAL. The facts are there..Dyson doesn't lose suction, although bagged vacuums do. they are only good for about 1/4 of a bag before you see serious loss of suck.

Vacuums SUCK
the better the vacuum, the Higher the suck level. as far as i have heard. Dyson is the vacuum with uber suck qualities
