I love my easyShare camera. I make little mini movies and take lots of pictures of my family. The battery situation vacuums. They run out too easily. I have to buy some rechargables soon.

Camera worked for 9 days then died. Got case number from Kodak and have to return it to United Camera and Binocular repair. I hope these aren't the same clowns that spit shined it the first time.

I called Kodak on the number that was posted here in the forum and they were nice. I was surprised they answered the phone on a sunday.

I'm a little soured on the camera now, knowing that there are so many problems here.

EDIT: Phone person said send it to United Camera, confirmation email said send it to Precision camera. Any suggestions?

Mine came with the alkaline ones as well. It was funny because Kodak technical support said not to use alkaline batteries with the camera.

Did it die again, or are you after a total replacement?

I got a response from woot, see previous posts. In the end the camera has to go back to Kodak. I sent a nastygram to Kodak and they offered to cover shipping. Too late I guess through, I sent it back twice now. I'll definitely get them to pick up shipping on the next one though. I am now waiting for Precision Camera to receive it for the 2nd time.

Took about 15 mins of video and maybe 30-40 pictures all look great...yah battery consumption blows goats, and mine only came with a dead set of alkalines. It has started making a pretty loud clicking, as the lens goes in and out...wondering if I should RMA it with kodak now, or wait till it goes out totally

I've been using this exact battery for a few years now. Cheap and saves a lot of headache.

This is a terrible camera. Read the comments, several cameras have the same problem. Woot will not stand behind the product. Kodak will not stand behind the product. Terrible, defensive response from Woot. Kodak has a wait and see service plan, as in lets wait and see if the customer will just go away.

I was excited to use Woot. Never again. I am now a Woot hater. I'll make sure everyone knows that Woot is weak. Poor customer support. Good luck Woot, the midwest US is already aware of your issues. You had your chance to do what was right.

Tarantino wrote:Mine didn't come with rechargeables, mine came with alkalines. Anyone else? Beuller?

Mea culpa -- they were NOT rechargeables, sorry. They LOOKED almost exactly like our Kodak NiMH cells, but they are "Digital Camera Battery" in large print, and under that, in fine print, "Oxy-Alkaline" -- so, I will use them in my 3W LED penlight. (We have scads of rechargeables, and so far, the camera seems to get respectable use per charge.)

Does anyone know of where I can buy either a fitted case (i.e., an "everready" type, NOT a "pouch" type) for this camera OR a rigid LCD "hood" type shield (the type that folds OVER the display when not in use, and then, when opened, acts as a sun shade)?

I've done a bit of searching but so far all I can find are "pouch" type cases and "display protectors" that are clear plastic that you stick over the LCD.

I really do like this camera (and I am a nitpicker, a "dinosaur" -- dyed in the wool film user, former professional photographer, Kodachrome addict (with a fortune in Kodachrome 25 in my freezer). BUT... I am *very* nervous about damaging the big *unprotected* LCD. It sure would be nice if they included a hood for these things. It *might* add fifty cents to the cost of manufacture, but it would provide a LOT of protection.

Hmmm... a little perpective, please (from the midwest too, BTW!) I've bought an awful lot of stuff here, but NO *awful* stuff! Only had ONE problem -- an MP3 player (Sansa) that was flakey right out of the box (it kept crashing after a few minutes of operation -- whoever packed it must have turned it on, seen that it worked, and then flagged it as OK). Woot replaced it lickety-split, frieight on their tab, no questions asked.

Now, if you *really* want to see what REAL "bad customer service" is all about, buy a Tracfone, and then try dealing with the [insert epithet of choice] CS people in Guatemala. (Yes, I can get a "real" cellphone -- in fact, USED to have one, but being disabled and mostly housebound, I can't see forking out monthly for the few minutes of actual use I'd put to it, with most of my airtime evaporating at the end of the month. For a few bucks I can fill up my "cheap Tracfone" and be all set for a year.)

Yup, unless it got some sand in the gears (I used to fix cameras, you wouldn't believe how sand will get *deep* inside the works, one grain of sand in a geartooth and bye-bye camera), it sounds like it's got bona fide issues. Send it in ASAP.

Im taking a trip in a week to alaska...dont want to RMA my camera yet, but im gonna be gone for a whole month...may end up sending it off once I get up there if it craps out on me. Anyone know if the average turnaround time is less than a month? shouldnt take them too long to diagnose and fix. Lastly, what info do I need to complete the RMA form? Can I get it all from my woot.com account? I dont know if I have the box it came in or any packaging anymore.....

I called the 800 number posted here and got put into telephone limbo, but it was a short wait for a sunday. I had to answer a few questions (I DIDN'T DROP IT or go swimming with it!) and give them my email address (so they can reiterate the instructions, and send you the RMA#). They didn't want the contents of the original package, just the batteries I was using. I'd already thrown the Kodak alkalines away.

You'll want to print out your receipt (available in the "your account" section") and print out the instructions that they send to your email with the RMA#.

Hilbe can answer your speed questions..

Seems a lot of people are having trouble with this thing dying. Same problem here.Worked great for a few days and now will not power up. Bought Duracell DX1500 NIMH / 2000 mAh which worked great for a while before it died. Checked voltage, 1.25v each. Tried again after recharging, still dead camera. Even tried the Kodak batteries that came with it, no go! (Voltage good on those also). Anyone have any ideas? or should I just send it back to Kodak?

Thanks
Wholfen

I have had mine for a while and I have no complaints about it. Honestly it says refurbished you either have a chance of getting a real POS or you have a chance of getting something that might as well say new. No one held a gun to your head telling you to order this.

DHL claimed to have attempted to deliver my camera 3 times, but I had no door tag any of the 3 times, (and I was home today!) so I went to the hub and picked it up..

I was worried that it would work until the warranty expired, but I shouldn't have. It didn't take a single picture. It did exactly the same thing as before.. lens extended, zoomed ok, than when I pushed the button, the screen died and it didnt respond do anything. I had to remove and replace the batteries to get the lens to retract.

Here we go again..

I have the benefit of being in Dallas. Short story, I took the broken camera to their offices and explained the situation. (It broke, sent for repair, still broken, not throwing good money after bad. DIdn't get RMA because no one answered my email. And here's my reciept.)

I left there with my paypal account being credited and a much better feeling about Woot.

I'm sending mine off for repair tonight. After having it a few days I noticed that there is a black hair or imperfection that is clearly visible both in the LCD and in every picture I've taken. Also, the pictures are just randomly blurry.

What's with all the whining - You only see about 20 people complaining about their cameras here. Everyone is not having the same experiences. I have had no issues with mine and love it thoroughly. My camera has been flawless and has inspired other family members to trade their Canon and Nikon in for this Kodak. I think most of you that are having problems and posting the issues here are having "unique" experiences. It is not the typical result as they say. This camera does last quite long on a single charge using Energizer batteries. I took over 15 minutes of video and 213 pictures on one charge alone. I keep getting compliments off of the pictures taken with this thing on Facebook. I hope that all of you eventually get your problems fixed and start enjoying this camera. It was and continues to be a steal and a great camera.
