"The knife metal extends all the way to the butt for a full tang"

What is a TANG???

A powdered orange juice mix for astronauts and the ghetto.

Or, a description of how far the blade of a cutting instrument (knife, sword) extends. Full tang means the blade is a solid piece that extends all the way through the handle. Also common are half tang, which is self explanatory, and rat tail, which means the blade tapers to only a thin rod that extends through the handle.

alloy is OK, very thin, poor edge finish - might be worth $10, but I gave the set I bought to Goodwill. You get what you pay for in on this Woot!

The part that is sandwiched inside the handle for the strength of attachment - full tang is best, of course! (If you meant in context with this product...)

It means something different in Pune India. Over here we drink regular Tang. Over in Pune India they drink Pune Tang. It's just like regular Tang, except they make it over in Pune.

I own them, they are amazing. They battled with Ginsu, and cut their asses, even though they were throwing tin cans and tomatos at Ginsu to catch them off guard. If you want a true perfection army though, buy 3. You never know when one set might become evidence someday.

Tang was an orange powder that you used to make an orange flavored drink. Supposedly popular with astronauts.

As much as I want things to move along also...

Save your money and get good quality knives one at a time as you can afford them. Chicago Cutlery is pretty good quality for a decent price and you can actually keep them sharp. You really only need a few good knives to handle most things.
