I bought these to use while using a metal detector, they are much better than the cheap headphones most people use for that. Very light and comfortable, great audio response for this activity.

I got a pair of these last time around (a coupe months ago). They are large but cut out almost all background noise.

Two questions:

1. Does anyone find the ear-moulded holes are annoying? I don't really have particularly big ears, but I'm not sure why they didn't just make the holes circular.

2. Do these work well for muting ambient engine noise on an airplane? My current on-ear headphones don't do a particularly good job of it.

Ok, what does it mean when people write. "Pancakes" ?

i'd reccomend the bose triports....they're expensive though.....even without the electronic active noise cancelling, they work better ( at noise reduction ) than most electronic noise reduction headphones. I've traveled to three different continents with those headhpones and ive spent numerous hours in airplanes.....they work, trust me.

koticphreak wrote:I think you may have these confused with another model. They sound great, my only complaint is that the bass could be better...

Everglide only made one model of headphones. Both my roommate and I bought this same model several months ago from Woot.com at the same time. Compared to the dozens of headphones I've ever owned in my life, these sound terrible; although, like i said before, these are great for gaming--nothing else llo My roommate, on the other hand, says they sound good to him, but that is coming from a guy that was using stock headphones from his Zen Vision:M and enjoying it--he isn't picky with sound quality.

Both of us agreed that it had a lot of bass to it.

Any comment or review on a product servicing the human senses will always and forever be subjective, unless the majority of those individuals testing it come to the same conclusion. In this case, some people say these headphones suck, and others say they're omgwtf AMAZINGiInG. =P

proof? Like, actual proof. Not opinionated "proof"

For $25 shipped, you don't expect the Lamborghini of headphones. You expect a $25 set of headphones.

one could argue that on woot, you expect a $60.00 set of headphones.

These are fine headphones, I have them. They do a pretty decent job of blocking out noise when you're just around the house. I give them a B.
The cord is extra long, but I'd rather it be too long than too short. I think if they were $15 I'd call it a deal.

I own two pairs of these they are fantastic. I bought them from Woot last year and noticed they retailed for $80 each. High quality sound and comfy. They are a tad heavy after wearin them for 6 or more hours but they don't stress the ears like some others have I've used.

That's exactly why I want them. They're huge so as to keep outside noise out of my ears. Of course, I plan to use them for music production... so ..eh... yeah, I guess I'm biased. I wouldn't use them for gaming since they make my ears sweat after a while... but my old pair (same kind you see on the Howard Stern show) are more than 5 years old... still work great, but getting old...
I'm in for 1.

Alright. Somebody has to explain to you that these are headphones. Stupid 3.5mm jack headphones that will work in anything that has a headphone jack. You have to be pretty dumb (not infatuated, Woot) to think that these won't work with an iPod. That's the dumbest thing I've heard all day. They are freaking headphones, nothing more. Ack! The stupidity of some people. Headphones! Jeesh.

Bought these for the mother. She's deaf-ish and uses the computer to talk instead of her cell phone which interfers with her hearing aids. I hope this works better because it is hard to find decent headphones that are big enought not to touch her hearing aids and have a mic. Great Woot, IMO!

Sorry if someone has asked already, but I just got back from vacation and missed the earlier posts...plus I'm lazy.

Do these have a plug that fits an iPod so I can use them on flights too? If so, then they will also fit an Xbox 360 controller so I can use it for both. I need a "baby cancel" set of headphones for the plane. Thanks.

I bought these last time and I am very happy with them. I feel I got just what I paid for...but go into this with eyes open.

The Good:
Excellent price point
Fairly comfortable
Good outside noise blocking
Excellent response for listening to HQ voice recordings (my use 95% of the time)
"Just okay" for music, but won't take your breath away (for $20 what did you expect?)

The Bad:
Not great for a wide range of sound
Cord is stiff and unwieldy
They make my ears sweat after awhile

It's got a standard mini headphone plug, so yes, you can use them with your iPod; but headphones this big require more energy to move the "diaphragm" (whatever material the speakers are made out of), so it might actually wear out the iPod charge faster.

I bought two of these a while back during one of the wootoffs and think they sound great; they are big but comfortable and block out a LOT of external noise; we can watch DVDs while the kids are sleeping and use ZERO compression to get excellent sound.

I think a lot of the whiners here are listening to compressed audio and complaining it doesn't sound great with these headphones. I haven't used the microphones in practice, although I tried one out and it sounds pretty good. I was very happy with this deal. It was probably more worth it because I got two ($5 shipping no matter how much you buy).

I'll say it again; IMO most of the self-proclaimed golden ears here are nothing of the sort; if they were they'd never buy any audio related products from woot. I have a very discerning ear, but I am over 40 and no doubt have some high range hearing loss, but I know what sounds right and what doesn't, and these headphones are a great value.

I've also not had any of the problems of material "peeling" off or anything; they're still in great condition, but then they sit attached to our DVD player just for the occasional nighttime DVD viewing and so only get used for a few hours a week.

This is the normal range of human hearing in a young person (age deteriorates hearing). Any frequencies outside of this range would not be heard by most people any way.
