Maybe if I got her one of these to go under her boobages, she could see if her heart rate goes up with that fine precision vacuuming she does.

Vacuum Tracks. She loves well defined VACUUM TRACKS on the carpet.

I bought one last time out and it worked great for cycling/spinning. But when I used it while running after about 15 minutes into a hard 10 mile run it said my heart rate was 240 the entire time and kept beeping every 5 secs - drove me crazy. I had to adjust the training parameters to ridiculous levels to get it to quit beeping but it still gave me incorrect readings. A great watch in concept but at least the one I got was not at all accurate while running though it worked for low impact activities.

Most won't work one handed. Most are not continuous. If you bike you have to keep lifting your arm to check it. They are more accurate.

Any thing else?

I too bought it last wootoff. I stick it under the lower band of my sports bra and off I go. Works great, very accurate, only issue is my watch light doesn't work--but I run on lighted paths so no biggie.

Are you wetting down the the electrodes? That's necessary for it to have an accurate reading. Reading the instructions = helps.

A few points on the device:
I mount the watch on the steering wheel of the bike, which is good (it comes with a bike clip). What I don't like is that setting the various functions on the watch are not intuitive at all. Everytime, I'm like how did this work again.
Also, the cheststrap needs to be positioned quite accurately or you think your heart stopped Not always easy when running or on a bike. I actually have some pecs so the strap tend to slide after a while. Also, you cannot turn the strap off other than removing the battery so it runs flat pretty quickly when unused.
But for 20 bucks I guess it's ok.

Mine turns off after about 2 min's. of not heart beat. After I take it off not pass on.

I use this when I am training. I am a competitive shooter, and heart rate control is extremely important in those situations.

So I use it more to keep my heart rate low. Knowing how to relax yourself like that can be very beneficial.

From what I read, yes, it will alarm when you die, suffer tachy or bradycardia, etc., i.e., programmable alarms.

HOWEVER, if you're worried about it, you might want to shell out some SERIOUS BUCKS on a HRM, and get one that'll dial 911, too!

Really though, will this fit on a woman? I already saw that the watch is too big for my wrist most likely, but I can handle that. I have a 34 chest, will the strap fit me or will I have to worry about it falling down?

I bought one of these last time around. It's been good to me, but I don't think it's a great heart rate monitor. Either that, or maybe all heart rate monitors have their problems.

I use it during a spin class. The problem is that as you lean over the bike, the sensor can lose contact with your chest. Most of the time when this happens, i'll see my heart rate go from 160 down to like 110, and then jump back up when it makes good contact again. That I can understand, but sometimes, it will jump up, like to 210 or so, and I know i'm not working that hard!

So i've learned to filter the readings and basically ignore ones that aren't about right. Using it has taught me to roughly estimate what my heart rate is based on how hard i'm working.

Fill the grooves on the back with KY jelly (its water based). And that will make up for you lack of body moisture.

I don't know if KY will work cuz it is not a very good conductor, especially when talking the VERY small currents this thing measures... Sweat has a lot of salts/electrolytes.

Probably the best thing to use if you're not sweating enough to get continual/reliable readings is a tube of electrode gel from any home medical supply house...a HUGE tube (like, 20-30 oz, i.e., a LIFETIME'S worth) is about $10-15.

I bought one of these a year ago off woot. Works well. Use it cycling.

The trick to getting it working is RUNNING THE BELT UNDER WATER to get both of the "wings" wet. Otherwise it won't conduct and you won't get a reading. Or sweat a lot first, your call.

for the price, you can't go wrong. I have it an used it for countless workouts. Its not quite as good as the $300+ watches that sell for $100 on steepandcheap.com but its still worth a buy.

It really sounds like it might not be working right...and, you should AT VERY LEAST call their tech/cust-service line and ask! Tell them you didn't realize that it might have never worked until you read what many others described its proper operation to be on some forums you just joined... You might be surprised at the level of assistance they offer EVEN IF IT'S LONG OUT OF WARRANTY! I had some 2 year-old (and totally worn out, but of course I never offered that info!) Reebok running shoes in the ninety's that started to delaminate...and, altho I had to ask for it, they replaced them for me at no cost! I've been sold on Reebok since.

zach85 wrote:There's a difference between water RESISTANT and water PROOF... Resistant is like when you're running or (in my case yesterday) riding your bike in the rain, it will provide some decent protection. But it cannot be submerged in water. Water PROOF is what you want, the ability to be submerged under water for a longer period of time. Do not use this watch under water, as some have already posted that it will not work under water.

That's a general misconception actually. Water Resistant to a certain depth means just that. It can be submerged safely to that depth. Waterproof usually means the item can get wet, i.e. splashed, rained on etc. but not submerged. Look at any diving watch and it will say Water Resistant.

My guess is that the watch here is submersible, but the chest strap is not. Basically you could swim with the watch on and use the other features, but not monitor your HR.

I think they write, "5-7 *business* days," I think...but, I've gotten all mine in way less time than that...in fact, all but one got to me in 5 or less *total* days. However, they use several shipping methods...and, I've heard that one or more can be slower.

I have it adjusted as small as it will go and it stays up just fine (my bra band size is 34). I tuck it under the band of my sport bra and that helps keep it in place. If you need to make it smaller you could always cut off some of the elastic and re-sew it.

Word to the wise. If you come in direct contact with electricity at any meaningful voltage as part of your job, remember to not wear the heart strap. It will cause the wristwatch to "freak out" and show some unusual values. That's from first hand experience :D

Brilliant! I haven't done any competitive shooting yet, other than plate shoots and some sillouhette shoots at my club, but when my kids are big enough that I can bring them to a match without listening to whining because they are bored, then I plan on getting into some serious competition.

Bought this product several months ago. It works great.

As long as the chest strap is tight, it will report an accurate heart beat. Both the chest strap and watch are water resistant to 30 feet, but the heart beat will not be transmitted to the watch when the unit is under water.

The watch is very large. It uses a 2032 battery, which is considerably larger then the 2025 battery that most other heart rate monitors use. On the positive side, the watch battery is very easy to change, using a penny to unscrew the back of the watch. Other heart monitor watches have to be brought to a jeweler to change the battery.

When the watch is in time mode, it doesn't display seconds (only day, date, hour & minutes). Seconds are displayed in stop watch, & countdown timer mode.

Finally, I haven't figured out how to display Fat Calories Burned.
