Staff

Big thanks to Woot member DerHimFanger for this week's theme!

If you want to know what's going to be at the movies in 15 years, look at the TV today. And if you want to know who's going to star in those cheeseball remakes, take a look at the cheeseball young stars of today. Hollywood loves a safe bet, an easy buck - and nothing's safer or easier than repackaged TV favorites starring reliable performers who knew how to hit their marks before they could read. Joe Jonas as House Jr., Michael Cera as Tony Soprano, or as DerHimFanger suggests, "Miley Cyrus in The Even Newer Adventures of a Younger Old Christine"- that's the kind of thing we're looking for.

Create a movie poster for a future remake of a current or recent TV show, starring a current child, teen, or young-adult star all grown up.

Post your entry here by 11:59 AM CST on Monday, December 8, 2008. Prizes are $20/$50/$100 for 3rd/2nd/1st. The rules and criteria for winning: our panel of volunteer judges can and will make stuff up as it goes along. Use Photoshop, linoleum blocks, pastels, MSPaint, cave painting, tattoos, tribal scarification, whatever, but it’ll only be judged if it’s visible in our forums as a jpg, gif, or png. As we are fond of saying, try to keep your maximum width to 450px. If you need a place to host your pictures, try www.imageshack.ws or www.photobucket.com. We have no connection to either, but they seem free and easy to use. And if you want us to be sure your entry was indeed your work, post links to your source images. The more sure we are that you did your own work, the more likely we are to consider it for a prize.

Most of the time, I find the original version is really good. But, in the same light, the newer version of an old movie is pretty cool!!!

That's why the monkey prize was invented! I know you can't win if you don't play. I know I didn't for low those many months I stayed out. Then again those many months I stayed in I didn't do too well either.

If I can get someone to soil themselves I will able to sleep tonight.

My second entry into a woot photoshop contest:

The Office: The Movie - Coming Fall 2022!

(Click image to view full version)

Sources:
The Office Group Shot
Christopher Mintz-Plasse
Ashley Tisdale
Dylan Sprouse
Shia LaBeouf
Michael Cera
Delta Farce Credits

I didn't bother making my own credits at the bottom since that's not really the focus of the contest. I just filled in some Delta Farce ones to make the poster look more legit.

Thanks, it's pretty cool what dodge, burn, and liquify can do to a person.

There's a story at CNN.com about one of people in a famous depression picture ( one that was chopped multiple times in contest 192), if anybody is interested.

I am kind of new to these contests. Do the judges not care if entries adhere to the theme when picking the winners? The reason I ask is because it seems like almost half of the entries aren't based on the theme. It says to take a current or recent tv show and make it into a movie poster, but I've seen a lot of made up movies being posted, or remakes of real movies instead of tv shows remade as movies. I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud, I just want to get the heads up so I can be more creative on my next entry if the theme doesn't really apply to the judging. Thanks.

Usually as long as it is somewhere in the ballpark, well done, and/or funny, it doesn't matter. Some topics are tougher to follow exactly than others. On a contest with lots of good entries, the judges do seem to pick the ones closer to the topic as the money winners. And there are times when they do not. So in conclusion, just do something that makes ya chuckle and have fun.

I wonder how young "young adult" is considered ... At 27, I don't think of Paris Hilton as a young adult.

In my defense, the 2nd defense (thanks toby8915), I'll refer interested persons to a definition of Young Adult

And I'd refer disinterested persons to this more detailed definition: Adult, Young
