I found the best reception increase I got was a PC card with an antenna that sticks out from the side of the machine. (assuming your PC has a PC card slot)

I tried several and the best was a Belkin YMMV

Bought one last round. This is a POS of the highest order. Netgear provides NO support without a Ser# and all s/n's have been struck through due to respiffied. If it doesn't work right out of the box, you are screwed. And don't think it's user error, I run a computer service company.
