Ah... that's too bad about the long hair. I already had my boyfriend go in for one though... I think we will just lint roller a bit before cleaning. Thanks for the responses!

Are both of them random? like, I could get a blue one, and a white one, or is it random like, I get two blue ones, or two red ones, or two black ones?

That's the million-dollar question. If these are new-repackaged, then not so much of a problem. If the batteries have been charged/discharged before (maybe even incorrectly), then that's a deal-breaker.

In any case, while the reviews for model 410 are decent at amazon, the ones for 415, not so hot

I wondered that too. My guess is they are both random and therefore could be different. But I don't know.

Bought 1 2 years ago before all the fancy features. It worked great, and recently it has started to die. 2 great years of use though. Probably died because of all the cat hair it has to vacuum up. Now it is stuck in one of the wheels and only goes circles.

Just bought 2 more I guess.

elisecrash wrote:If it doesn't come with a charging dock, how do you keep it charged?

The adapter can plug directly into the side of the Roomba. No dock required. (But it's kinda nice to have.)

I love mine and run it daily, over mostly tile floors. It doesn't pick up a whole lot of dirt that way, but nothing in the house gets dusty, either. (I don't dust.) It does a good job of keeping the dirt under control.

Does SquareTrade cover the battery? Would we have to purchase two SquareTrade warranties?

Ooo, good deal! So tempting! But I already have 3 roombas.

I liked the write-up, too. But Woot should have worked in something about how a new administration will "clean house!"

That "rocket powered" snail is great!

As for long hair, I have two long-hair cats, and a Roomba, and the Roomba pet adapter kit.

Well, no. I actually have one of the "pet" models of the Roomba. But there used to be (maybe still is) a kit to convert a regular Roomba to a "pet" Roomba.

My pet Roomba has a differently designed brush and a convenient tool for more easily remove the hairs that will wrap around the brush; the brush is easy to remove and reinstall. There are a couple of other differences, too.

The pet Roomba works great for getting the dirt and cat hairs off my wood and tile floors and on low-pile carpet.

Cats and a Roomba? At first, my cats ran from the room, then watched from around the door frame. After a couple times of using the Roomba, they now mostly just ignore it unless it gets within their comfort zone of about 2 - 3 feet, then they just get up and walk away.

Will this get to my dorm by friday? I'm kicked out/have to pack up for home by then... but I also don't want it to arrive at my house before I get there. (wouldn't want the 'rents not home to pick up the package, either) Decisions, decisions!

In the box:

You get 2 individually packaged Roombas shipped together in 1 box and contain the following:

* iRobot Roomba 415
* Power Adapter
* Rechargeable Battery
* 2 Virtual Walls (Requires 2 DD batteries, each)
* Filter

Says one Roomba in a box, so I'm thinking you get one Adapter, battery and filter, plus 2 walls per Roomba, for a total of 4 walls, 2 adapters, etc.

Hmm... regarding that "SHIPPED TWO-DAY" logo with the rocket-propelled snail with the package...

Considering that it's an organic construct, one would argue that it can only be propelled by none other than... its farts.

That's right. It's science. Fart-propelled snails are what bring you your packages from woot. Unbelievable?

Believe it.

sekiyoku wrote:How good are roombas at cleaning up long hair? Also, is this a very good deal? :p

It's a good deal. Mine needs a new battery soon, and if I had the $ I would be in. But I'll have to wait for now.

As far as long hair... I have a long haired cat and it works great. The answers that reference the rollers getting hair wrapped around them are correct. THIS IS WHAT THOSE ROLLERS ARE DESIGNED FOR! The combination of the opposed-rotating rollers, the dust bin, and the (admittedly mild) suction work together to pick up the dirt, dust, and hair.

I spend about 5 minutes after each cycle to dump the dust bin, clean off the filter, and remove the hair from the rollers. Every 4 or 5 cycles, I will remove the rollers and get any dirt or hair out from the edges of the rollers. Letting it build up there will cause erratic behavior by the Roomba. The rollers are designed to be easily removed and replaced. It takes an extra 2 minutes or so.

In case it's not clear: I love my Roomba! I have the first generation model, and it's fantastic. Newer ones are certainly improved. I am constantly amazed at what a great job it does.

these are great. i keep a pair in my living room charged at all times and its great to set them loose to see them battle... they'll meet, then circle each other, part ways, then come together again soon thereafter.. it really quite a cleaning tango that goes down

Amen to that. I need to replace mine- exactly three months after I owned it and the warranty expired (retinker) but other then that, a good way for me to clear the floor. They're great for hardwood/no carpet stuff- you really can watch them for hours...in some ways they can actually waste way more time then sweeping.

Lotsa stuff...

JackJD wrote:Anyone who bought these Roomba refurbs before know if the BATTERIES that come with these are NEW or REFURBISHED?

Thinking about it, thinking about it......

I bought a scooba last year from Woot & I'd rather give up a kidney than give up my scooba.

I have to say that the IRobot customer service is great! My scooba kind of limped along for 3 uses after I got it from woot then it wouldn't charge up at all so I called cust. svc. They sent me a brand new battery for free, said that the refurbs sometimes have bad batteries. It arrived about 3 days after the cust. svc call and has worked well ever since. I clean after each use (important) & it works well. I called cust. svc a couple times w/ some questions. They were always very nice & helpful & cut me a deal on the cleaning solution:15% off plus free shipping.

Will the roomba go from tile to carpet or stop at the carpet line (that's what the scooa will do)? What about a rug on tile? Will it tackle that or would I have to move it around?
