Somebody, please tell me how often the "Banging old cans" sale is run on Woot?

Why is this posting process changing my quoted words in the last two posts. I'll try again. Does anyone know when the random koi sales are scheduled? Thanks

a. I love it when newbies post, and get tricked by the filters.

b. There are two words in your post that do not go together: "random" and "scheduled". That should give you your answer.

No more server problems if you use Akamai!

Wrong. Akamai serves up web pages fast by replicating them to local servers; that doesn't help process business transactions.

The crappy bag is not generally scheduled. It usually comes on Christmas and perhaps other holidays. There is usually one at a random time during a Woot-Off when items are continually added [see Woot FaQ].

WOOT filters almost all the popular words.

We only know when the non-random ones are scheduled. If you think real hard, you may be able to come up with one of those dates.

No, you obviously don't. Computing on demand is for dealing with intermittent computationally intensive tasks; it doesn't address servers that are oversaturated with network requests.

I have gotten 7 since late 1995 and also bought my share of REAL doo doo.

(Case in point, the SAnyo "Claw". It scratches CDs and DVDs so they can't be read.)

So for anyone out there Bit ching about not getting B.O. Carpage, buy something during a Wootoff that's going slow.

Lies. I have only bought bags of koi, 3 in the last 4 months, nothing else. EVER.

I'm expecting a lump of coal for my Bag of Craps.

My last two scores included a set of golf clubs, and more recently a refurbished GPS and a camera bag (both of which I needed).

I do like that you get three craps in one stocking for this one, made it easier not having to pick "I want Three."

i love how everyone is complaining about bad servers. if you ask me, i think its just fine how it is. if they had servers that could handle Brick of Carbon requests, they would all be gone in like... 10 seconds. plus the servers would be at idle for 99% of the time anyways. good planning, woot. keep it up!

So I've got 2 questions:

The first is, is this a Christmas thing or is this like the end of a wootoff thing?

and the second is:

Where can I find a list of what people ended up getting

1. Neither.

2. Here. In about a week or two, depending on how crappy SmartPost decides to be.

hey all.. i'm late posting to the thread, I know... but i just finished jumping up and down in excitement (and then sleeping, and then eating breakfast, and then going to visit friends for lunch, and then going to visit other friends for dinner, and ...) ...and anyway, just wanted to say that I was one of the lucky ones that was awarded an 'order complete' page on the Christmas Baggy of Camomile ! Yay... this will make it my 3rd Baggy of Camomile, but the first ever non woot-off Baggy of Camomile for me! Can't wait to see what Santa is strapping onto the snail and sending me for the holiday!!

Well at least woot got it right this time with just selling the items for all 3 for 3 bucks. No more "I want one" crying.

I still think that they have to get some sort of authentication system going. Something like what you use to verify an password setting with a graphic that you need to type in. I am sure it would overload the servers but if you are one of the many without "special utilities" to purchase the items, you really dont have a shot at getting a Bag of Cows. The authentication system would at least level the playing field for everyone to get a chance.

Merry X-Mas to all and to all a good night.

It is random, but you can make educated guesses as to when it is more likely. Take today, for example - Christmas is a holiday of giving, so Woot! has done Baggy of Camomile's on Christmas at least the last two years in a row (probably more).

Woot Offs are also an opportunity. Go back and read the forums, look at the history in "the community". You'll see that some Baggy of Camomile's come during Woot Offs, sometimes more than once, but it isn't a sure thing that there will be one. Random is as Random does, you know.

Bull. I have wooted 66 times for a total of 121 items. You would think I would be toward the top of the priority list. This is just on Woot.com. Not to mention all the other items on the sister sites.
