You shoulda seen him when we read Beowulf. Norton doesn't use his favorite translation, and there's some things about the one in there he doesn't like... it sounds like a bad Hollywood B movie in his opinion. The poet who translated it is still alive (Seamus Heaney, Irish Poet Laureate & winner of Nobel Prize for literature, 1995), so he said that if we ever were in a pub with him, we need to quote one of the crap lines and give him a good punch in the nose (he should be so plastered from Guinness it wouldn't matter is his theory).

Well, he claims he wants us to do well in the class, because it's just a survey course. He says if we come out saying "I hate my grade and I hate English" then he's failed in his job... and of course, they were basically all things that we'd written, just perhaps a different passage illustrating the same thing...

I think you'll have competition... everyone's eyeing that 'cause we know it'll get locked soon... even mild-mannered poof is going for back to back last posts...

j^3, I can only hope the student "question authority" attitude extends to the school and faculty as well.
Some profs have been out of the mainstream of life and within the academic orbit for a bit too long. They are your immediate influences, but not infallible.
Only my opinion.

i think he was just exagerating to make a point... like at the start of the semester when he said plagiarism get's a 9mm to the head on open space area behind the building, and his frequent groaners of jokes, but sometimes he goes overboard...

Nice woot...anything with Neo in it has to be cool, right?
Or not.
Decent price if you're "really into the series".
Now that the mystery has been revealed, will have to go horizontal for awhile.

Not a good woot for me, I am afraid...

I am more into "art," "foreign" or "cult" films.
