so, here's the thing. I been thinking about the photoshop winners, 1st and 2nd place. There's no advatage that I can see for anyone. Sure, the kid has the ball to go straight down the lane. BUT, so does his opponent. They bowl in the same lanes as each other.

The other one, with the detonating badminton birdie, can explode when someone hits it. Who? They have to hit it back and forth to determine who serves. The person with the birdie is going to have to hit it first. Does it boom then? why not? If it booms later, how do they know they won't be hitting it when it goes off? Who has an uinfair advantage in either case?

Trouble brews as I drive home.

The bowling one is similar to the pool table I whipped up (and said it really didn't give one person an advantage).

As to the Birdie - seems to me the person serving would have the initial advantage - you pull the pin - wait 2 seconds - THEN serve - it is not a contact grenade - its on a time delay - so the person serving could hit it. For the argument of vollying first to determine who serve's - the owner of the special birdie could use a regular birdie until such time as it was his or her turn to serve - then pull out the grenade enhanced one.

Ans yes - I am completely over-thinking that.

There is an advantage, I grant you. Just not the overwhelming advantage they asked for.
