The hubby took out the air conditioners yesterday. We had a fan on...pointing outward...because neither of us can sleep without background noise.

I woke up so hot. Maybe because it is so warm outside...

Or because I have like 2-3 layers on.

I've got to hand it to him...he replaced the arm on our storm door so it now closes properly, did a very good job on the lawn, cooked and did laundry this weekend.

I feel like a slouch now...but I did do the nieces' and nephew's christmas shopping, worked and cleaned up the big garden!

that shopping counts fer big in my book! Shopping for kids makes me crazy...never know what to get. Soon-to-be-ex never did any xmas shopping for his family...I did it all. Fortunately his mom would give me good lists but still....I had my family and friends and neighbors to deal with too. And the decorating and cooking/baking..oh and wrapping all of the stuff. I don't miss that.....well, I do miss the big family holidays but not the rest of the falderall!!

It was all online shopping, tho!

The kids give us specific lists, usually. This year it was a little more open.

I usually did all the X-Mas shopping. When I was working mad hours a few years ago, I told hubby that he had to do his own family. He did pretty good.

I don't bother puting up a Christmas tree anymore with the 3 cats...One year, one of them climbed it and knocked it over at 2-3 am...needless to say many antique bulbs were broken and it wasn't fun to do vacuuming that early in the morning.

I enjoy wrapping because I am good at it...I love coordinating things.

We switch off holidays with my sister's inlaws. This year, my sister goes to her in-laws for Thanksgiving and will be here for Christmas. Then next year, it will be the reverse...

Since the holidays fall on Sunday this year, there will prolly be no 'extra' days off for us...so Mon and Fri will be bizzness as usual. Otherwise, I would prolly go 'down home'..but that is a 6 hr drive. So I will be up here...and prolly working Xmas and NY day at the emerg clinic.

I do put up a tree - used to put up 2, in fact. Big one down in the family room, small one in the front window of the LR..that one was all decorated in animal ornaments too :) Now I just do one in the LR - I wire it to a plant hook in the ceiling tho! The cats don't really bother it, except for batting around some of the ornaments..I put the cat-friendly ones on branches they can reach. This year, however, will be a different story - the three kittens! Am sure they will wreak havoc with the tree! Oughtta be interesting!

I forgot this song...I love the randomizer on my mp3 player.

"On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime
She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running
Like a watercolour in the rain
Don't bother asking for explanations
She'll just tell you that she came
In the year of the cat

She doesn't give you time for questions
As she locks up your arm in hers
And you follow 'till your sense of which direction
Completely disappears
By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls
There's a hidden door she leads you to
These days, she says, I feel my life
Just like a river running through
The year of the cat

Well, she looks at you so cooly
And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea
She comes in incense and patchouli
So you take her, to find what's waiting inside
The year of the cat

Well, morning comes and you're still with her
And the bus and the tourists are gone
And you've thrown away the choice and lost your ticket
So you have to stay on
But the drum-beat strains of the night remain
In the rhythm of the new-born day
You know sometime you're bound to leave her
But for now you're going to stay
In the year of the cat"
