Don't use stain when I can avoid it. This was 'aged' with potassium dichromate, makes cherry oxidize really well, and ages it beautifully. The legs were the hard part, you're right. They also were inlaid underneath so that there isn't an exposed edge. Cut flush on top with a chisel for a cleaner look than sanding. Top was sanded first though.

You must like "This Old House" then?

Oh, well, I dunno. I like the haiku idea, and even better, the limerick. But , really, they need something off the wall creative to do something fun. How many people are going to make a short video, after all?

Well, Norm Abrams is not my favorite woodworker, by far. The houses are neat sometimes, but lately seem like they just do these huge deal homes with a huge budget that is completely out of reach. I'd like for them to come here, add a wing on my house too, make the kitchen double in size, remove the aluminum siding and restore the logs, and the oak siding, etc too. But I don't have that kind of budget; gotta win some Photoshop contests!

You can win 'em, but you might not get paid...I am still waiting for $50 from contest 37 and a monkey prize from contest 36.

I've got difficulties building sawhorses...your patience and attention to detail show up in your PS entries as well. Nice.

they are beautiful....and I hope they appreciate the time and talent you poured into their heirloom pieces. I have an old wooden house that my grandad built....was always a part of the xmas decorations when I was growin up....that means more to me than anything!

I hope so. At the time I was very sentimental, as I had nearly died late in 2001. I fought very hard to keep my kids from growing up without their dad when I was dying. Got rhabdomyolysis from taking a statin for cholesterol, and spent several weeks in ICU, and nearly a year in recovery. nearly back to myself now, thankfullly.

I think the technical problems with hosting that much bandwidth might be limiting for the video.

yeah, that's the thing, they train you on professional equipment... then that's all you want to work with... i looked at getting MiniDV camcorders, but couldn't really find anything I wanted under a grand... now I've decided that SD television is for suckers, HD for me! the only problem is that an HDV camcorder will cost at least 3k, up to 5k, for just the camera... then we get into the editing software, and the After Effects, and the titling software, and then ya start wanting some video rack equipment...
of course, i can get the software at deeply discounted student prices, but then i couldn't legally do any commercial work with them...
