Good! I am proud of you!

I still think that I'm harming commerce.

a fifty cent bolt can be replaced - but instead I'm forced to have the merchant scrap a chainsaw to replace it with another chainsaw.

That has to {pardon the pun} cut into the profit line....

Neo, what kind of music do you listen to? (if any)

I've got a pretty eclectic mix...50's and 60's music, mostly doo-wop type of stuff, some classical, prefer Haydn, Bach; some modern country, Toby Keith, Sara Evans, Alan Jackson, some Johnny Cash too; some horrendous modern punk and heavy metal stuff, Celtic, folk, Cuban, a little of everything. Depends on the mood.

Think of it this way...

Well, if the manufacturer hadn't hired cheap foreign labor, it would have helped the commerce greater.

or

If the loose bolt had actually cost you a limb...

They'll just sell it as a refurb...nothing wrong with that around here!

Yeah, very ecclectic. It is funny, I was listening to Johnny Cash today, but not his traditional stuff...I listened to the NIN cover.

I wish I had broader tastes, but I don't. I can't get into some music...like Big Band.

It might help if you walk in to the shop tomorrow running the chainsaw and wearing a hockey mask.
When they're done pooping their pants they'll be glad to give you a refund.

A refurb chainsaw?

//runs screaming

I still am waffeling and might just repair/modify the chainsaw.

I have a spare mower motor, and can pick up some hydraulic stuff - and I do have three trees I need to slay.

I have one I'd like to slay. But if it falls wrong it hits the house and turns into a Vonage commercial. So I'll pay for someone who'll have to use their own insurance to pay for the damage.

My parents came over on the boats during ww2.

The grandparents started here with two trunks, no cash, and an american public that was stupid enough to castigate people who spoke heavily accented english as being dumb (despite knowing more than one language).

Yep, I return stuff.
I learned that from watching "Summer School" with Mark Harmon, where the kids got free sunglasses by complaining.

Because it's a bolt that fell out and is missing.

It's a 50 cent part I can replace.

Why cause a large profit loss when I can just buy a a bolt and fix it?

If I cause a loss - don't you understand that we all pay for it in the long run?

I wish a storm would kill it. It's a catalpa tree, about 2-3 ft diameter, so it's seen a few winters. I just hate it. Huge leaves, annoying pods, looks like some evil Halloween tree when it finally looses its leaves.
Pretty for about a week in June when it blooms. Pisses me off the rest of the year.

Okay...

So, your parents came over between 1939 and 1945.

The Great Depression was from 1929 thru 1941.

So, they did experience it.

What I don't understand is your comment about your grandparents. Did they come at the same time as your parents, after or before...

*confused*

Perhaps, your parents ingrained the "salvage everything" attitude?

What background are you? Eastern European?

In that case, they should replace the .50 part vs. a return. And do the service on it free.

LMAO!!!!!!!!! Such an adverse reaction to a TREE!

LOL.

Those pods are awesome! See, I would get pissed off by the petals. I have a cherry tree and I hate when the white/pink petals litter all over the lawn!

I have a walnut tree...so I can relate to the pod thing.

the parents/grandparents arrived at the same time. They fled Lithuania when the soviets and germans were busy killing everyone.

They arrived in 1944 - , I wouldn't of been born had my uncle on my paternal side not died - since the rest of the paternal side went to australia as planned while Muma and Tevalis had to take care of the details then flee to america.

Suppose he makes the repair...then its still faulty. He goes to use it again and it maims him. He makes a claim for a 1,000,000. He wins, the company goes bankrupt...then the government needs to take care of him then we still pay...

You multi-generational americans as a whole seem to smoke crack on a daily basis.

No, I was merely showing the flip side of the coin.

I am 3rd generation, I believe. Yes, 3rd.

I have never smoked crack, but other diversions are fine.
