Well, I have a few things to do. Maybe I should do them.

Did I say that the cat hates me?

Anyone know any good cat treats?
Has anyone ever brought a cat to be groomed? That is why he hates me.

My cat loves the Pounce treats. If I am sitting on the couch with the jar, I have to take one out and hide the jar under a blanket b/c she attacks it trying to get it open. It's really funny

Hubby was lucky with accounting.
Funny, it looks like the only kids who will get a good job is the accounting major, but now it is a 5 year program.

I know a couple people that went back and grabbed accounting. My mother really thought my sister should have. My sister did get Production Operations Management, but now, she's working in accounting. . .

I graduated with accounting and have major regrets that I didn't get an IT degree to go with it.... have been considering going back to an online school to get an IT degree - it is just so expensive and time consuming.

I have a friend doing a 2 year program in IT right now and it's a joke. He's been working in IT for years though, just never got a degree. Now he is getting the government to pay for it since his job went overseas. The one perk (besides finally having a paper to say he knows how to do the stuff he's been doing) is that he is getting certifications for free. Students used to have to pay for them, but more of the certifications are free for those enrolled in school.

I've been in IT for 10 years without a degree. The only way I'd ever go back to get one is if some employer paid my way just like your friend. My current employer couldn't care less about it, which was awesome when I applied.

I wouldn't waste your time either. My friend was at MPC when it went under. He was there on the last day. Shame too, the guys who got let go earlier got the better deals.

I could actually care less about a degree. I just want to learn more that will help me with system implementations. Basically - I need to learn more about programs like Oracle, Peoplesoft, JDE etc so that I can help with the interface between them and Vertex (the cert class I'm taking now)

Take a couple Database classes. Heck a weekend seminar would probably be good enough.

That was basically it. When we migrated to from Arcview 3.2 to Arc 8.3 all the data went from spreadsheets to Access. I'd learned a little Oracle in school (Orc took a class). Arc also uses lots of database techniques to work, so it didn't take much. I made a database for my Christmas cards, because I hate looking for addresses, but I've been slacking with it.

Unfortunately, that's the one that ESRI linked their software up with. . . of course I rarely play with GIS at all anymore.

ACK! It's the post lunch brain meltdown. I am soooo tempted to go home and take a nap, but I really shouldn't. If I go home I should keep working and it's not that overly hot here today, so. . . .

I had initially planned on working from home after visiting the kids at lunch, but it is nice and cloudy today so there really wasn't a reason to go home.

I'm also trying to learn more cgi programming on the fly today with a really poor testing environment (can't break the main page this week because it's being used for demos in Georgia). Could set up a new dummy test area, but that's too much work.

Looks like woot needs a new testing area too, hopefully someplace other than the ebw.

Hey everybody! Had a pedicure, got new books at the library including Breaking Dawn, the 4th of the Twilight series! Vacuumed car, read a bunch of Breaking Dawn, doing laundry, and thinking about dinner.

EDIT: no problem posting!

Fine, it just hates me. . .

it's still doing it for me. Fails to load the page after I hit post and reload would lead to a double post, so I've been going out to woot and coming back to the ebw that way. . . .
