How much are the games worth?

I'm interested. Does anyone have a suggestion for which game should I get? (Reviews, experience, etc.)

I'm going to guess less than what Woot is charging for them.

Again, that's just a guess.

No stone throwing regardless of housing situation. It really should be...ONLY throw stones...if you're trapped in a glass house and have a stone handy...it's a bit longer but you get the point.

Not a bad price based on this walgreen's price (who knew you'd find this here?)

Walgreens $24.99

These are great ideas for selling drives. Love the fact that the game does not need a cd and can run without anything plugged in.

I got a fever... and the only prescription... is more woot!

Wow 8gb flash drive for 14.99 plus shipping. The game must be worth it because the jump drive can be bought anywhere for less.

The only one I've played is Brothers In Arms. It's very good. A bit dated by now, but still lots of fun. It's a WW2 shooter, but it changes it up by forcing you to use your squad, cover, suppression fire, and flanking maneuvers. Lots of fun!

Haven't played the others, but Splinter Cell CT got really good reviews and people I talked to seemed to like it.

Yes, but are they fast? How long does it take to upload/download a 1gb file to/from the drive?

Anyone have any technical specs on these Dane Elec flash drives? Do they support ReadyBoost? What kind of read/write rates on them?

While the 8 gig stick is tempting, I don't particularly want any of those games. Not woot!'s fault, but could you put some plain jane 8 gig sticks up instead?

for those who never read the descriptions of the products that you buy on woot, this may be kinda important for vista users

Rainbow 6 and Brothers In Arms need to be ran under Windows XP Compatibility Mode and as an Administrator to operate properly under Vista

I was really thinking about this but you can buy all these games on steam for $9.99 (splinter cell is $5) and the thumb drive isn't worth $10

For estand
Steam is a digital distribution platform you buy the game and then can download and play the game on any PC the only restriction is you have to download there client to download the game and you can only play on 1 computer at a time.

My good friend plays Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and really enjoys it. The game is 12 bucks at amazon so 15 for the game plus an 8 gig USB drive sounds pretty good to me.

All of the games are available for $20 or less.

Brothers in arms is $12.49 on Amazon.

Otherwise, do your own research, and keep in mind that a name brand retail 8 GB flash drive will run you about $20 with shipping.

Essentially, this deal is a free game with your flash drive (of course, if you don't want the games, 3 - 8 GB drives for $50 is pretty damn cheap).

I see them on Amazon for cheap too.

All excellent games IMHO. The three FPS titles all kick a$$. If you had to pick one, I'd definitely go for Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.

I've played all 4 of these. Splinter cell is the best in my opinion.

Given Woot's past, if you order 3, you'll get 3 USB drives, each with the same exact game installed. If you then complain to customer service, they will tell you to get bent.

Buyer beware, at least until this post gets deleted.

I just found another completely obscure site where you can purchase one of these USB games for almost the same price as woot too...

Ambient Weather for $15.98?

IGN Scores (out of 10) for the 4 games (just in case anyone wanted a general idea).

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - 9.6
Brothers in Arms - 9.1
Blazing Angels - 6.8
Rainbow 6 Lockdown - 6.5

I've played Chaos Theory (though on Xbox) and I'd say, if someone has the time to sit down and play that game (with some interest in doing it, of course) it's worth a play

And an 8GB flash drive ain't bad either. Needless to say I went in for 1

splinter cell is fun if you like first-person shooters where you have to sneak around.

rainbow six VEGAS was really fun in the standalone single player game, and awesome online against other real people. Since I got so much of a kick outa the vegas version, I may get
this one...

no experience with the other two.

I haven't played either of these, but I have played Rainbow 6 Vegas and Splinter Cell Double Agent and thoroughly enjoyed both. Rainbow 6 is more of a basic fps and splinter cell a little more role playing involved fps.

Anyone know how "Blazing Angels" compares to "Duck Hunt?"

bobdoleman

quality posts: 0 Private Messages bobdoleman

You can pick up the games on direct2drive relatively cheap:

Rainbow Six: Lockdown: $19.95
Blazing Angels: $9.95
Splinter Cell: $4.95
Brothers in Arms: $9.95

The drives themselves go for about $20 minimum price.

Are the drives any good? Maybe, but the download speeds are probably pretty poor.

So do you have to delete the game off of the thumb drive to attain the full 8gb of storage?

A tangent - I've been buying flash memory since 1999 (SanDisk 48MB Compact Flash for $150). Bought many since then, many brands - Sandisk, Sony,Patriot, Panasonic,Kingston, Corsair, ATP, and some no-name brands.

The only flash card that ever failed was Dane Electric 256MB Compact Flash circa 2003

Not sure of their quality today, but buyer beware. Losing 256MB of data is not so bad; 8GB data loss could be much worse.

For those of you who were upset that there wasn't a game for girls, you can find a game called "fashion designer" on a similar usb drive at the 3rd most obscure location for these games:

GeekBro for $14.93

(shame on woot for not offering games for the fashion conscious too!)

I bought one of these flash drives without the games on it. It has worked fine but I do have 1 problem with it. The cap of the flash drive has nowhere to go. Usually you can stick it on the other side of the flash drive or the stick swings out, but on this one once you remove it you better remember where you place it. I still have the drive but no cap.
So FYI its easy to loose the cap.
