I'm thinking a few of these would be good for those impromptu sleepovers that seem to occur after every party.

these are probably good to have for sleepovers, or if you're a college kid/young adult, good to have for guests who crash on the couch.
if you plan to do any real outdoor camping, i'd suggest going to REI (or similar sporting goods/outdoorsperson store) and buying a high-quality bag (will easily cost you $100+)

I would never suggest going to REI for standard camping gear, it's 2 or 3 times the cost of most other places, for specialty equipment it is ok, but generally it's for yuppies. That could just be because we have more options in the NW though. I do agree that if you are going to do some "real" camping, these really aren't such a good idea.

Linings like that don't breathe well and make you sweat like crazy which is kind of gross.. Cheap-o fleece bag for $10 serves me in the summer much better...

Most places carry these... they are called blankets. That is all the warmth that they will give (perhaps even less). I really doubt if they have any insulation in them. For $10 each you are going to get a cheap nylon shell and that is about it.

Don't get me wrong, these would be good for kids who are sleeping out in the backyard when it's 70 degrees out but not much more.

High Peak makes cheap discount store bags.

I couldn't agree with you more. I personally prefer to shop at www.mpgear.com

They've usually got pretty good deals on nice Kazaam (1996), and they gave me a free footprint with my Big Agnes tent.

Excellent response....you're right that you get what you pay for, and for this you get a semi-decent pair of sleeping bags for lightweight use.....good to have around the house/yard/camp, as many have already noted. I'll be shocked if this isn't sold out in a couple hours....

anyone find anything about how big they are? typically most sleeping bags are designed for sub 6ft tall people, often tall editions are sold for those who are less than 6'6" I'm betting these are for 6' or less, but anyone know?

I love it. These are 1.2 lbs of polyester cheapness that stuff into a 6" x 11" sack, and they feel the need (or claim the right) to specify the temperature range into the tenths of a degree. Temp Range: 21.2 F to 51.8 F. I want to meet the tool (from Simex Sport) that wrote that. With the front bumper of my car, that is.

For everyone hammering these poor things for being cheap garbage that won't keep you warm, you don't know what you're talking about.

ALL sleeping bags, even Wal-Mart specials, will keep you warm. The better bags are just more compressible, keep their loft better, and are tougher. With a ground pad (which anyone sleeping outside should have regardless) I guarantee these things will work do to 35 or so degrees Farenheit. And who really goes camping in colder weather than that (who doesn't already have a l33t Mountain Hardwear bag)?

I'm sure they don't compress well, have a very light nylon shell, and probably the filling will seperate/squish and it'll lose its effectiveness pretty quickly. But for anyone who's not an extreme backpacker or outdoors enthusiast, this is an AWESOME pair of bags for the price.

Well I've never actually done any shopping for camping gear online, but generally I just to to Bi-Mart for the basics, it's reliably priced reasonably. The last time I bought a tent I got it at cost-co, I was surprised how cheap it was, I got a nice, albeit way oversize tent for just $100, very sturdy poles,about double the durability than what I normally see at stores. They also have decent sleeping bags sometimes, they were about $30. They weren't good enough for winter camping, but it would manage for fall camping I suspect.

Better put one inside the Other for a scout camp out if it's anything like the ones I went on.
These are light gear- like the kind you would use in a tent on the beach in south Padre. Not really the type you use for rocky mountain trips.

75 and 80 in the day on the Mountain can turn into 20 at night in a flash.

How much do these weigh in pounds and ounces and are they synthetic?

12"x7" is TINY for a rolled bag! My arctic expedition $500 REI special apcray takes up more space than the entire inside of my large backpack. Of course, for summer camping in Texas, we really need AIR CONDITIONED sleeping bags! :-P
